DJ costs

So what is an average cost for a DJ.  My one friend met one that was $1800 and another that was $800.  That seems like a big gap.  My FI also said he heard that you could get one for $500.  Not at that point yet to book one, but just wondering for future reference.

It just depends on the company & the services provided or included in the package. IMO anything over $1k is pretty steep for a DJ.

I'm looking at a range of $1000 - $1300. Steve and Company and Dinardo Brothers are on the top of my list.

Ditto DJ's Available. That's who we are using & their pricing is the most reasonable I've found. They also offer free DJ showcases every several months that they encourage those interested to attend - I highly recommend it.

There is a 'big gap' in everything.  That's like asking 'What's the average cost of an engagement ring?"The average cost for an average DJ will be a lot less than the average cost for a highly talented and experienced in-demand DJ.  You could find someone to do a wedding for $400 but why risk it?  Entertainment makes or breaks the party.  The bargain won't seem that great if everyone leaves early because the party is bad.
