Venue and Photographer?How about your florist and your band or dj?Lke, how many months in advance?

    We had a short engagement. I booked everything about 5 months in advance. I know some people would think I'm crazy, but I work better under pressure. And it all worked out perfect.

    It depends on a few factors: how long is your engagement? Is your wedding date a prime time date? Availability of your specific DJ, band members. Be sure their names are listed on the contract for your protection. That's one of the reasons why we selected East End Entertainment. They are a well establish family owned and operated business. Even some of the band members are part of the family. They will travel anywhere in the tri-state area. www.eastende.com ask for michael or John. good luck

    I have been engaged since August 08 & Im getting married June 09 - I booked everything right away. Luckily I did because my DJ - had 2 different parties scheduled on the day of my wedding but he was able squeeze us in. Take the time to find your vendors but when you find someone you really like book them - even if it is a year in advance - better early then waiting and losing out! Good LucK! :)

    First of all, welcome to the board!Here's my story: FI and I got engaged at the end Nov. 2008. We decided to just enjoy the engaged feeling for awhile and started looking for vendors in February. We went to contract with a hall and then they started acting shady. It broke my little heart, but we had to move on and found Jericho Terrace, on May 8th, 2009? (Our wedding is May 14th, 2010.) We booked the photog in June/July so 10-11 mos. out.The next thing we did was our DJ in August and our limos and photobooth in Sept.We haven't booked our florist yet, but I'm hoping to start looking in November.But, if you're just starting out, there's not set way to do it. Do everything at your own pace and make sure you book the things that are MOST important to you first and foremost!
