HELP!! Bello or Joe Mikos/Kristen Leigh Conklin Photography

Okay - I have been going back and forth on this decision for a few weeks now. I know alot of people really love Bello, but has anyone else used Joe or Kristen from Mikos Photography?? Does anyone have a preference? I'm not sure why this has been such a difficult decision for me - but I could really use some help from you ladies. Please let me know! Joe Mikos: http://www.mikosphotographers.com/ (Kristen has now gone out on her own: http://kristenleighconklin.com/index2.php) Bello: http://www.bellophoto.com/ Thank you!

Hey! I didn't have any of them but I think that Joe Mikos and Kristen's portfolios are amazing! My vote is for one of them.  Do you get two photographers if you book with either Joe or Kristen?

Hi! The package I would chose with Joe or Kristen comes with a 2nd photographer as an assistant. With Bello, I would have both Andy & Christine.

Hi Carabelle! I'm so sorry that I am just getting back to you about Joe Mikos (just saw your follow-up questions on the other thread.)  Here are my replies: I chose Package 2 with Kristin (I can't find the original contract that I signed, but I want to say it was something like $6350 for 10 hours of coverage, engagement session (which I highly recommend), an album, plus all of the little extras that they throw in.  I also added on "the couch" and added in the DVD of negatives.  I am embarrassed to say that I haven't actually looked at the DVD of negatives, so I am not sure how the unedited pics look (I will try to take a look at them this weekend and let you know.)  Also, if you want to get a feel for an entire wedding, send Joe an email.  Before I booked them he sent me the passwords to 3-4 weddings so that I could view all of the photos from start to finish.  It definitely helped me finalize my decision to go with them.  Also, Joe would be able to answer this question best, but I think that they do post-processing for any photos that you actually order from them (and of course for any albums that you order from them.)  I do want to add that ordering photos from them is super cheap compared to other photographers that I have seen ($5 for a 4x6, $10 for a 5x7, and $15 for an 8x10.)Hope this helps!  Again, I cannot recommend them highly enough.  They were actually the very first vendor I contacted for my wedding, and I booked them before anyone else (even before I had my reception venue finalized!)  Probably not the smartest idea at the time, but it is a decision that I have never regretted.  Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with!

I can't comment from experience with either (other than an initial inquiry to Bello, but they were out of my price range.  But - I am addicted to Bello's blog!  I just love the photos they post, and it gave me some great ideas for my own wedding.  Good luck with your decision!

ekcape-THANK YOU!I haven't found too many people that have used Joe or Kristen, so your opinion definitely helps!  When you worked with Kristen, was she still a part of Mikos Photography or was she on her own?  I got a little confused when I first looked at Joe's blog since they both post there.  Was there a reason you chose to go with Kristen over Joe?  Her pricing seems to be a tiny bit less than his (or atleast you get a little more for the same price).  I looked at her 2nd package that includes 8 hrs w/assistant, engagement shoot, high-res DVD and a few little extras for $6000.  With Joe, I was looking at package #2 with 8 hrs of coverage w/an assistant and digital negatives (no engagement shoot included) for $6500.I wasn't really looking to spend that much on photography, but I came accross Joe's web page right after I got engaged and I was hooked.Anyways, sorry for the long message...and thanks again for your help!

Hi! When I worked with Kristen she was definitely still working with Joe (I think there split must have been fairly recent as I just got married this past spring.  I also just noticed this week that her blog postings are now only appearing on her own blog instead of what used to be their joint blog.)  I honestly think both of them are fabulous, so I hope that the split was just a professional decision and not a personal one. Honestly, the only reason I initially chose Kristen over Joe was that Joe was already booked for my wedding day and Kristen was still available.  I think that their photography styles are very, very similar.  After reviewing their photos for the past year and a half, if there is any difference at all between the two I think it is that Kristen catches love/emotion a little better, and I think that Joe captures the details a little better.  However, as I said above, these differences are slight and both are really fabulous photographers. You are right, though, that Kristen's prices are a little cheaper than Joe's...that was an added bonus to me when I booked her.If it would help at all (and if you are OK with it), let me know what your email address is and I will send you the password to my photos.  I held my reception at CBI as well, so it may help you to see an actual wedding held at your venue. Thanks!

It sounds like it was an amicable split but I'm not sure - Kristen mentioned to me in an email that she has been trying to start up on her own for a while now.  Although, I think just in the past week or so all of Kristen's posts were off the blog (I'm a regular lurker).  And I agree, their photography is very similar - I think that's why I was initially confused as to the blog postings.  It would definitely be a huge help to see your photos - my email is cara dot belmosto at gmail dot com.  I really appreciate all of your help.  Kristen is putting together a customized package for me - so hopefully I'll be able to make a decision from there.  I keep coming back to Mikos Photography in general - whether it be Kristen or Joe - so I have a feeling that's who I'll end up with.  Thanks again!

Unfortunately Bello was out of my budget, but I stalk their blog regularly and absolutely love their work.  It sounds like you are leaning towards the other 2, but I figured I'd just give my opinion.  Good luck.  All 3 take amazing pictures so you really can't go wrong!

Yes! Thank you - I actually wrote you an email back, but it looks like I never sent it (we have our engagement party this weekend - my head is all over the place!).  Thank you again for sharing - you were an absolutely beautiful bride!  I'm hoping to make a decision this week regarding the photographer - Kristen actually put together a custom package for me, which was super sweet of her. Anyways, thanks again for your help - and I'll let you know who we end up chosing!
