teeth whitening

What do you girls suggest? Do you prefer teeth whitening by dentist or store bought. Dentist seems a bit out of my price range, however does the store bought really work? Let me hear those lovely opinions! Thanks!! :)

I've always used some form of the Crest WhiteStrips.  They're relatively inexpensive and they really work!  The only con is that they make my teeth sensitive, so rather than use them twice a day as suggested, I use them only once a day to minimize sensitivity while still getting good results.  After using them once I was in a store and a lady asked me, in all seriousness, if I had false teeth!!  I am definitely a fan.  Hope that helped!

My dentist sells teeth whitening trays for about $90, which IMO is pretty inexpensive in the grande scheme of things. I did do the Crest White strips before my wedding (I got the advance ones that run around $50). They DO work, however, I hated that they made my teeth so sensitive It got so bad that I couldn't even stand to eat or drink and had to stop using them after the 5th day. I only used them once a day and they just hurt so bad, but my teeth are also very sensitive. You could try them, but I would try the cheaper ones first to see if they bother you or not. Also check with your dentist about an inexpensive whitening method.

I do dentist whitening and have never tried anything like crest white strips.  Like khart said it's really not too expensive.  When I smile, you can really only see my top teeth, so I only got fitted for a top tray ~$90, that's a one time fee.  Then you get the whitening gel or whatever to use in the tray.  There are lots of different brands, I just used what my dentist recommended and I think it's only like $30 for refills and they last a long time. I intended to go back and get trays for my bottom teeth when I had more money, but I've just never got into it. I'm not 100% sure of this, but i think what you get from the dentist also lasts longer.  I only whiten my teeth 3 to 4 times a year every night for a week and that's it.

Ditto PP's with the crest strips working if you can withstand the pain LOL! I've used them on and off for about 6 years and they do the trick! I also had BleachBright done and honestly it wasn't worth the money (IMO). I really didn't see any difference even though they claim 2 - 8 shades whiter in one session. I have heard good things about Zoom whitening but it was a lot more expensive than the BleachBright. I guess you get what you pay for ;)

I actually work at a dentist office!  I'd say try the strips 1st, you usually get the same result, just takes a little longer.

I've used Crest Whitestrips a bunch of times before high school homecomings and proms.  I haven't used them in the past 4 or 5 years, but they really worked for me.  They did make my teeth more sensitive, like everyone is saying, but also be careful what you drink when you use them.  Because you're bleaching them, they are more porous and more likely to stain if you drink something like coffee or dark soda.  It's not really that big of a deal, just drink it out of a straw if possible, and you'll be fine.  Other than that, I really liked them!
