Pew decorations

Are any of you decorating the pews or getting altar arrangements?  The altar arrangemetns I've seen are SO expensive, and we have a lot of pews (even if we do every other).  I was thinking of skipping some of that decor, but I dont' want to come off as cheap.  our church is really beautiful by itself anyway. So what are you doing?

we didnt do anything.  our church has regular flowers every weekend, we just went wtih what they had on teh altar.  we offered to purchase the altar flowers for the weekened, but our priest said that wasnt necessary. pew decorations are not needed either, IMO. if you do choose to purchase an arrangement for the altar, please leave it for the church afterwards as a donation rather than take it with you.

Our church will already have lilies on the altar, since our wedding is the week after Easter. We're not bringing in anything in addition to that.   Even if there wouldn't already be lilies there, we'd probably bring in an arrangement or two for the altar and no pew bows. We're not a fan of them and they just wind up going to waste.

we didn't decorate the church at all. Saved us a ton of money, and no one even noticed.

We didn't buy any flowers for the alter since there was already some but we did buy flowers for the pews, we did 5 on each side every other pew starting from the front.

Our church is really ornate. We did nothing on the alter. We did very simply pew decorations. PIB

I'm getting married during Lent so if we were to spend the money on flowers they would just be thrown out (we can't physcially take them with us after even if we wanted to).  Same goes for the flowers for Mary.  We *may* do a few pew bows but that would only be 2 on each of the front few rows and that's it.

we did buckets of flowers on every other pew.  they were very simple and inexpensive.  i bought and spray painted the buckets myself, the florist filled with our flowers and hung with ribbon.  since it was fall, i also provided the church with orange, red, yellow mums in baskets.

(we were told we HAD to bring flowers for the church, regardless of whether or not we wanted them)... ask your church for details on what they require/expect.

We're renting single pew candle torches from the church because they're only going to cost $100 to rent.  We got ribbon on sale from Hobby Lobby as well as snowflake ornaments (at 40% off).  I'm going to make bows (2 loops on each side) and attach the snowflakes to the center of the bow.  Then they'll be attached to the pew candles to mask the point where the pew candle attaches to the pew.  I don't think that church decorations are necessary, especially if your church is already really beautiful on its own.  Good luck!!!

we're doing two flower arrangements on the altar and our church asks us to donate them to the church following the ceremony which we're totally fine with. i'm thinking of doing pew bows, mainly for the first few rows to signyify the "family" rows and then after that maybe every other row or so, or maybe nothing for the rest of the pews at all. do you girls think that would look ok to just do the first few rows for the BP and fams?i say if your church is beautiful enough as is then do without! it's one less thing to worry about and no one will even notice!!

We bought two rolls of tulle and made our own pew bows! The total cost was about $15. Here is an online tutorial: http://www.wedding-flowers-and-reception-ideas.com/how-to-make-a-tulle-bow.html

One of the priests at our church likes to do altar flowers for people... for about $100. It is a good deal, and it will fit with the church, so we opted for that. As for the pews, we are doing a single flower in a paper cone on every third one. We didn't want to do anything too crazy, and the church doesn't want people to put too many flowers in the sanctuary.

We are actually going to use lanterns on the pews since we're having an evening wedding. We're hanging the lanterns from to the pews using colored ribbon, and using battery operated tea lights in the lantern to appease the chapel director!
