STD Coasters

The FI and I just set a date and have finally picked our venue (after 6 long months of searching)!  I'll apologize in advance for all the questions that I'll probably end up posting. We are looking to send coasters out as STD's.  When did you send yours out and about how much did you spend on them?  I don't want to go overboard. Thanks!

STDs stypically go out about 4 moths before the wedding. I wouldsend them out even earlier if your wedding occurs during a busy time or on a holiday weekend. I am currious about STD coasters. I feel like these would get lost really easily. Coasters, for me at least, are a personal thing - I like to coordinate with my decor. I think the magnets are cute PLUS I always know where I put it.

First of all, this is the best place for questions - you never need to apologize!Second I LOVE the idea of coasters!! My goodness I wish I thought of that. Something practical is always fun.  I spent about $50 on save the dates - but mine were just postcards - pretty postcards. As far as the when - it depends on your venue, day etc. If it's a holiday weekend somewhere torist-y where hotels might book up quickly send them out 6-8 months in advance and indicate on the std they need to book early. I sent mine out 5 months in advance, I had a lot of oot people. One thing to consider with STD and invites is the postage - how will you send them and what will it cost?  We were going to do fancy personalized stamps until we realized the cost was a little more than we wanted to spend.GL and happy planning - so exciting!!

We just sent ours out this week, but we were told to send them out 10-12 months before.

Friends of ours sent out STD coasters, and they were cute. However, I didn't use them as coasters - like PP mentioned they didn't really match my decor... just food for thought. We sent out postcard STDs with a photo from our engagement pics and a little info on the back (including hotel info and our wedding website). We figured people could stick them up on their fridge easily enough - the bonus was that the postage was a heck of a lot cheaper!!! (I think I have a photo in my planning bio still... we got them from vistaprint.com)
