BBB Registry Questions

Hi ladies,

I am looking for some help.

Now we are drawing close to the big day, gifts are being purchased more regularly.  There's at least 3 gifts from our BBB registry that have been purchased, including our most expensive item.

Given that they don't offer any kind of thank you manager program, I have no way to check-in with people if the gifts don't arrive here, or don't show up at the wedding.  Of course, we won't do any follow up until after the wedding.

Have folks found anyway to check-in with BBB customer service to verify if things are being shipped or bought in store, and/or who purchased them?  Shipping here can get tricky as packages for us sometimes get left at our landlord's and they don't always tell us right away.   I want to be sure things don't fall through the cracks or folks don't worry we haven't gotten them.  We've been acknowledging when things come in the mail right away in addition to a formal thank you note.

Overall, we've found BBB great to work with, but this is a big down side!

Thanks,

H

Re: BBB Registry Questions

  • No, there is no way to know.  But at least you know what has been purchased, and can be on the lookout for things.   If you're worried about having things sent to your address, then you might consider changing the shipping address.   Or you could just alert your landlord that you have used your address as your wedding registry, so he can be on the lookout in case things mistakenly get delivered to him.

  • If the gifts were purchased from your registry, you should be able to contact customer service and ask them who bought them.  I did this for one gift, and I just used the live chat customer service on their website.

I would not worry about this until a little bit after your wedding, though.  People give gifts at different times.
  • Thanks all, I suspected the answer was no.

Unfortunately, there's not really an alternate shipping address.   My partner is a pastor and works at the local church in town (which isn't staffed when there aren't meetings or events happening).  We've had no issues so far with things sent here from our Crate and Barrel registry, and we are on the look out.  We've also let our landlord know.

I'm not going to worry until after the wedding about following up on things, but appreciate the help.   The most expensive item from either registry was recently purchased and in case it doesn't show up by 2 or so weeks after the wedding, I'd like the chance to follow-up.

While we've overall had a positive experience, this and a couple of other small things would make think twice about recommending BBB.
  • I really wouldn't worry about it.  I'm sure your guests would follow up with you if they never received a thank you note.
