Tipping

I know this is asked from time to time but I think it's been a while and it isn't showing up in the older posts.  Soooo.... I have my hair/makeup trial on Monday.  I need to pay $75 for hair and $50 for makeup.  Do I tip at the trial, or wait til wedding day to tip on the total amount that I spend on trials plus wedding day?A few other tipping questions... my venue charges a 22% service charge, that should cover all reception-related tips right? And last, how much should we plan to tip our DJ?Thanks!!

Good deals on the hair and makeup! Who are you using? We may be looking for a makeup lady per my previous post (I haven't been able to reach her in over a month!). I did not tip at the trial but will tip for everything on the day of. As far as the venue, mine charges 22% as well and that will absolutely cover all tips. The bar tenders better not have a tip jar out. I know not having a tip jar doesn't mean that the guests won't tip anyway but 22% is a lot IMO and I don't want the guests to double tip them!We aren't tipping our DJ but we'll probably buy him a gift card or something and put it in the TY we send him. He is part owner of the company though... not sure if that really matters.

I'm using Baltimore Bridal Hair & Makeup.  For the bride, the hair trial is $75, I think the day of is $85.  Makeup is $125 with $50 due at the trial, $75 due the day of.  For bridesmaids I think hair is $70 and makeup is $50 on the day of.  She requires a $300 minimum for hair bookings.  Hope that helps!

Good questions! I am wondering the same thing. My good friend is doing our hair (she has a business for wedding hair), she is not charging me as my present and was going to do my makeup also, but I have a makeup artist doing the makeup. I had one trial already the last time I got my hair colored and cut and I am doing another the week before the wedding when I get my last color and trim before the wedding. I tipped her like I normally do when she just does my hair,  nothing extra. She is also not charging full price for MOH hair because she is friends with her also. I am paying for all the girls hair and makeup as their gifts instead of getting them something they will never use. I was going to tip her like $50 to $75. As for the makeup it depends how many are getting it done and the cost. I will probably tip 15 to 20% of the total if she does a good job. Not sure about the DJ, he is our friend and originally quoted us his price and took $100 off for us. But we just verified everything with him last weekend to make sure we were all on the same page and he quoted us $400 more than he originally did! FI and I just dropped our jaws! We told him the original price and he said that was fine he couldn't remember and he said he thinks he raised his prices since we first talked to him and the first price is fine.  So I am not sure if we are going to tip him  or not. That I am leaving up to FI. The venue...they charge 21% service charge and same deal not tipping them, especially since the venue coordinator has been a major Pain in the you know what this whole time. DOC not sure about that.Florist probably not.Photographer not sure...Kimbrout did you tip?Videographer not sure....Unionbay did you tip?HTH!
