Hair and makeup?

Am I supposed to pay for bridesmaids to get their hair done? Also, what is a good price for someone to charge to come to my venue and do my makeup, including a trial run before hand?  I'm so clueless on this stuff, thanks in advance!

My trial for hair and makeup was $125, and it took about 3 hours. If you want them to have their hair professionally done, I would pay for it.For a Saturday wedding, alot of MUAs have a minimum of 3-5 for hair/makeup to come to your location.   My MUA charges $395 and that's for my hair and makeup plus my 2 BMs. That does not include airbrush which I added extra.

not unless you want to. Just don't make it mandatory to have it done professionally if you dont intend to pay for it.   I used meagen sparks (http://www.morganbremakeup.com/)  her prices are listed on her site.

To add to that question: How much do you tip for hair and make-up? I've never had my hair professionally done for anything so I'm out of the loop. The only time I've had my make up done was at MAC where you just buy product.

You should tip 20%, just like if you were at the salon.

Even if they are in business for themselves though?

Apple-yes, I would. Heather, if it's something you can do and you want their hair/makeup done professionally you should pay for it. I paid for my mom, BM, and MOH.

I've never really understood why you wouldn't tip even if they own their business.  Tipping is a reward for a job well done, regardless of what the situation is.  But it isn't mandatory.  People in a salon service dozens of people a day while MUAs usually only do 1 or possibly 2 jobs per day max.

I am using Kristie Luv and she does airbrush make up for $50 per person. She also does hair for $50 per person. She will come to you the day of for a travel charge of $40 (there has to be a minimum of 6 services i.e $300 for her to come to you on a Saturday). I did my trial run with her at her studio (for bridal portraits) and it was also $50. She is by far the cheapest I have found for airbrush and she is awesome! My cousin is doing the hair for me and my BM's and she usually charges $65 for an up do and a $50 travel fee. She is doing mine for free though as a gift to me. I told my girls that they did not have to have their make up done professionally but it was up to them. They all wanted it done so it worked out. I would never force someone to have it done though if I couldn't pay for it.

Lindsay I am so jealous!  I wish I had found Kristie earlier.  Based on your bridals, I'm going to start recommending her even though I'm not using her!
