key west cake questions

happy friday... i am more of a mixed dessert person (cannoli's , choc covered strawberries, cookies etc) than a cake person but i am looking into pleasing my mom and having a cake... how much did your cakes cost? i know it depends on size of the party and cake but just looking for ball parks. anyone know any bakeries or catering places that might supply dessert trays in key west? if i don't end up w/ a cake to feed all, i might want to try ordering an assortment of sweets. the place we are getting married at and getting dinner from has a dessert option which is *pretty* expensive... can't seem to just find a carvel or something! give me chocolate ice cream and im happy! any input is appreciated.

Re: key west cake questions

  • We are using Cakes by Karol...we're having a two-tiered cake that serves 40 people, decorated with fondant bows and it's costing us about $300 ($7.50 a slice). Try Croissants De France....they are a bakery that does everything from cakes to cannolis to tarts to cookies...you name it. I bet they would be more than happy to supply you with an assortment. They are very friendly and responsive to emails too.
  • The wedding coordinator where I am getting married said that Publix has the best cake on the Island and I plan on using them. I love cake, but I am not splurging on one.
