Cook's Illustrated tested both products and determined that the Cuisinart stand mixer was the winner. You need to have a subscription to their site to see the results (and our subscription lapsed) so I don't exactly remember why. But their reviews are reliable. They do all kinds of tests to determine which product is better. We used their guide as our guide for our registry items.
i have the cuisinart bc i read great things and wanted something different than everyone else who had the kitchenaid, including my mom. i dont think you can go wrong with either, they are wonderful. i love mine, purchased from c&b. it is very powerful, nice sized bowls, matches my other cuisinart appliances.
When I registered I first registered for the Cuisinart. It had a good review and there was a great registry bonus from BBB. But I changed to Kitchenaid. Because I have wanted a Kitchenaid for a very long time and although I knew the Cuisunart was good - it was the KitchenAid I wanted (plus I love the yellow Kitchenaid - its is just a very happy color)
I have the Kitchenaide and I LOVE it. FI bought it for me a couple years ago and its a godsend when I do my yearly Christmas cookie bake. (I use it all the time but that's when I need it most) I can't wait to get the pasta attachment.
I registered for a Kitchenaid stand mixer and it's become my favorite appliance. Baking is something I love to do and the mixer makes the prep work fast and no-fuss. It's also built like a tank and designed to last a good long time.
