Re: Engagement stories with a side of bling!

  • My story:

Sean picked me up from work like any other day.  We chatted the whole ride home about work.  When we got to the apartment he went into the bedroom & I was setting down my purse in the kitchen.  He called me into the bedroom & I got SO excited (we had looked at rings together over 2 months before this & I really thought this was the moment!).

I go into the bedroom & he hands me a dozen roses.  Sweet but I was soooo confused!  It wasn't Valentine's Day, it wasn't my birthday, & it wasn't our anniversary.

He must have realized I had no idea what the flowers were for so he pulls out the ring from his pocket & gets down on his knee & asks me to marry him!!

Well, technically he said, "will you?"
So I replied, "will I what?!?!"
And finally he said, "will you marry me?"

I screamed yes &  then hugged & kissed him a trillion & two times :)

And my ring pic is in my siggy!

  • We actually picked out the ring together about 5 months before he proposed, so I knew it was coming.  We had planned to go out to a nice dinner in Boston for my birthday and he kept building up the day, so I told everyone the week leading up to the dinner that he was going to propose.  I had myself totally convinced that the ring was my birthday present.

A few hours before dinner, he asked if I wanted my birthday present.  I was a little confused but I said yes.  He brought out this huge gift bag and I was really confused.  Inside was a beautiful pocketbook and I kept searching through it thinking there was a ring in the bag!  I was completely dissapointed and texted my best friend that he wasnt' proposing today.  She texted me back telling me that maybe would do it at dinner, but I was convinced he wasn't doing it.

But not too long into dinner he said, "You seem really dissapointed and I know why, so I'm going to do this now.".  Then he proceeded to give this amazing speech about how much he loved me, and all I could think was that I had ruined his moment!  Anyways, I still cried when he said that he would always try to be the best husband he could be and someday, the best father.  Then he took the ring out of his pocket!

My best friend and her bf met us after dinner for drinks to celebrate!  Here is a picture of us at the Top of the Hub overlooking the Boston skyline that same night and the ring is below.  :)

  • Sergio and I got engaged 6/7/11.

The year before he proposed, we went to Wildwood, N.J for vacation with my family. We had a great time in Wildwood but we loved visiting Cape May more. One night, my family, Sergio and I went to a beautiful restaurant called Harborview in Cape May that overlooked the ocean. When we arrived, my family started taking pictures by the water. Sergio and I wandered over to a dock that peeked right over the water. The scene we looked at was beautiful... the sun was setting and it gave this beautiful orange/red glow to the sky. It was so romantic holding hands, looking out to the water, hearing the waves slowly tumble and smelling ocean water with every gust of wind. We looked at each other and talked about how this would be the perfect spot to get engaged one day.

Fast forward to this past summer... Sergio and I took our own little vacation in Cape May where we stayed at an adorable bed and breakfast that had its own balcony where you could see the ocean :) On the third night of our vacation, we decided to go to dinner at the same restaurant we had that moment, to see if we could catch that sunset again. We timed it perfectly, making it just at the right time. When we got out of the car, I rushed over to the dock to take pictures. I was so excited. He then quietly asked me if I could put down my camera and to come over to him. He then got down on his knee and proposed right on the dock...at sunset.

    Best night ever.

  • Joshua and I started to look for engagement rings for months. I found the one I loved I wasn't expecting it anytime soon. He would constantly play little jokes here and there as if he was going to propose.

It was around Christmas time and we went and did some Christmas shopping for his niece and nephew... All afternoon he was acting really strange and quiet. I asked him if everything was okay and he said he was just tired so we continued to shop. We then went to dinner and I felt as if I was doing a lot of the talking so again I asked if everything was okay and he said again he was just tired. On the way home he mentioned that he had called my dad to have lunch (he wanted to discuss the upcoming proposal).

Once we got home he ended up falling asleep. He woke up and saw me looking at the picture of my ring. He asked me " Do you think I have it"? I told him no. He then pulled out a black cardboard box and he didn't say anything. I didn't believe that the ring was in the box. Since Valentine's day of last year I have been asking for a pair of diamond earrings. I just thought I was getting my Christmas present early. So then he pulled out the ring box and I told him that it wasn't in there. Then he opened up the ring box and there was my ring!!! He asked me to marry him I said yes of course!!!!!

I felt bad after FI told me his original plan which was to propose to me on New Years Eve... but in the end I wouldn't have changed it for anything in the world. The next afternoon we met with some of our mutual friends and they all knew he was going to propose. I did not think he told anyone. Oh and come to find out earlier that week FI and dad had the proposal talk...

  • We had been talking about getting married for years (we have been together almost 6 years now). I started looking at rings and picked out 4 I liked, that way he could choose which one he wanted out of those 4, so I'd LOVE the ring, but still be surprised. Anyway, he told me he was planning on proposing on a cruise we were going on in September, so I didn't expect anything until then. We were out to dinner for Danny's birthday dinner on May 28, 2011. We went with his family and my family to an Italian restaurant and after we all ordered our food, Dan got up and was giving a speech thanking everyone for coming and saying it meant the world to him. He started getting choked up and I had no clue what was about to happen. The next thing I knew, he was down on one knee asking me to marry him. Of course I replied yes, but not before saying "Oh my god, are you serious?!?!". It was one of the most amazing moments of my life to date and I am so lucky to be marrying my best friend.
LOVE LOVE LOVE my Tacori ring <3
  • My fiance (Jamie) and I were celebrating our anniversary at the end of the week.  We were both super excited cause we have such crazy busy schedules and we were looking forward to a whole day spent with each other.  Jamie had planned a series of events for the day but I was not suspecting a proposal, though we had talked about marriage for some time.  He had told me to meet him at "Dippy", a statue of a dinosaur in Pittsburgh by the city library.  That was the site where we had first met and was a frequent meeting site for us.  From that point on in our day, nothing went according to plan.  Anyone who knows my fiance knows that he is a planner and can be VERY type A about planning things.  I've always been more type B and found it humorous that nothing was going as planned.  We still managed to have a wonderful day despite that and the heat (had to be the hottest day that summer!!).  At the end of the afternoon, Jamie wanted to take me up the incline in Pittsburgh (a railway car that rides up a mountain slope).  When we got there, we noticed that it was stuck and that they were shutting it down for the day for repairs and maintenance!  I told Jamie that it was fine and that we could go up another time but he was extremely persistent about going up.  We waited for a bus that goes up the mountain and Jamie and I sat on some rocks in a quiet part at the top.  It was very nice as the view of the city was very beautiful from up there and there was a nice breeze as well.  Jamie then told me he had a surprise for me and that I had to close my eyes.  I closed my eyes and he took my hand and put the ring in my hand.  When I opened my eyes I was waiting for the words before I started to flip out!!  He then gave a speech about how he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me and that he supposed he should do it the "right" way...that's when he got down on his knee and asked me to marry him :-)  It took me about 5 minutes to say yes as I was busy flipping out and then I finally said yes...truly the happiest day of my life to date!!!

  • Seriously got all choked up reading your engagement stories!!!  And WOW the bling is just gorgeous!!!

  • Adam and I were walking in the mall one day and we had been talking about getting engaged, we walked into Kay's and looked at some rings. Narrowed it down to a few I liked.

3 months later, the day after his cousins wedding he gave me my ring and said he couldn't wait for it to be our turn.

This is the stock photo of my ring b/c it is currently being repaired overseas unfortunately.

My daughter met her fiance on Match.com. They talked for a month before meeting. On that first date, they clicked so well that they spent the whole day together, ending with taking pix in a photobooth. On their 9-month anniversary, he surprised her in a photobooth with a beautiful Tacori ring! Needless to say, they'll be having a photobooth at their wedding! lol
