St. Louis Cathedral HELP!

I'm hoping to have a wedding at St. Louis Cathedral, but looking over the guidelines I've become apprehensive to the idea. I do not like the idea of not being able to take pictures after the wedding. Does anyone know how strict they are about this rule? Also, I'm concerned with the parking and the guest getting to the reception, which is to be at Venusian Gardens. Any information would help greatly before I sign any contracts.

I got married there last year, and they are very strict about no pictures inside the church after the ceremony.  It wasn't a big deal to us - we took pictures outside the church and at the reception site.  Most of our guests were OOT and did not drive, but for the ones that did, they parked at the garages in the FQ, and then we had buses from the ceremony to the reception, and then back to the FQ after the party.  That's one way to eliminate people having to park twice.  HTH!

I am getting married in Jackson Square outside of the Cathedral- and the pictures are super dramatic with the Cathedral in the background.  And since you will have just gottten married there...you can still have the Cathedral, but just a different part!  Here is the link to the picture that inspired my wedding in Jackson Square with the Cathedral front and center (PS- If anyone knows whoser wedding this is, I am dying to talk to her) to ask some questions about her wedding (PPS- before everyone attacks me and thinks I am vendor- don't.  I don't even know who this dude is and I am using Meg Baisden):http://www.michaelcaswell.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/4o2f0266.jpg

I imagine they have to be strict.  They have weddings at 11, 1, 3, and 7 on Saturdays, with mass between the last 2 weddings.  This limits the time one party has to clear out while the next one comes in to set up.  I was disappointed too but can see how it could cause major problems.

Thanks for the help everyone! I speak with St. Louis Cathedral next Saturday, so I might look at other options. While I think it is a beautiful place to get married, I think their are to many things that aren't working for me. Again, thanks everyone!

The best thing to remember when talking to the Cathedral is their perspective. For the people who work there it is a church and holy place first and a wedding venue second. They want it treated with respect and dignity-and I'm not saying that you wouldn't do just that :)- and so tend to be strict and stand by their rules
