Failing MISERABLY finding a ceremony/reception site

Hey Brides,I've been engaged for almost a year now, and I have yet to pick a date  mainly because I cannot find a place.  I wanna be original but it is kind of impossible where I live.  Plus I just graduated college and my dad is out of a job so this is basically on me and my fiance.  So money pretty much gets rid of any grand ideas.  Since I want to have my wedding in September or October my recent idea has been a pumpkin patch, but I'm scared of the thought of an outdoor wedding due to weather and getting my dress dirty. My next is just to settle and have the wedding at my church.  It's a good idea because that is where we met and all and I've gone there my whole life.  The problem there is my colors are pink and orange and the whole sanctuary has red carpeting.  I feel like those colors would be AWFUL together. So no matter what the pros and cons seem to equal each other out and I'm stuck.  I know I still have a year to work this out but I was wondering about what other brides have done.  How did you decide to do an outside wedding without fear of rain or getting your dress dirty?  And if you did it in a church did you have to worry about the carpeting? Thanks ladies!!

I'm having an outdoor wedding and I'm thrilled about it. I have a cathedral train and I know it's going to get dirty but who cares, that's part of my perfect day. I've always wanted both the huge train and the outdoor wedding so they kind of go hand in hand. As for the carpet clashing...if people are looking at the carpet they don't have their priorities straight! My colors are fuschia and green and I couldn't care less what color the reception hall is...so much so that I really don't have a clue. Do what suits you. If your dress gets dirty, oh well, that's what cleaners are for...if the colors clash, who cares? Not like you pick the red carpet for the church! Do what makes you happy and what you envision your day looking like. I personally LOVE the idea of a pumpkin patch!

I'm having an outdoor ceremony, and we're taking pictures outdoors, and I'm not concerned in the least about getting my dress dirty. Its not like you have to WEAR it again! It's going to get dirty, whether you're outside or inside, best just to get used to the idea. And, I don't think pink orange and red are all that terrible together. Actually, I think pink and orange are worse together than either of them is with red... (red & pink - valentines day, red & orange - fall leaves!)

Dude, no one will notice the carpet. Promise. Its much more important that you get married somewhere that the two of you feel comfortable, than it is for the carpets to match your colors. If you do decide to have an outdoor wedding, you absolutely need a rain plan. We had an outdoor ceremony - our backup was to do the ceremony inside the reception area w/ guests sitting at their tables if it rained. And you're only going to wear your dress once; do you really care if the train gets dirty?
Holy Crap. We survived the first year!

The church I'm getting married in has red carpet and it's the least of my worries!  The carpet on the aisle will be seen the most so you could put an aisle runner down to cover most of it up.

one of my colors is bright pink and my church has some serious red carpeting, which i am not even one bit concerned about.  it crossed my mind, but most of the pics we will be taking won't be in the church, and even the ones that are can be edited..... or there just might be some red carpet in the pic.  the entire day isn't spent in the church, and that's usually one time people aren't noticing decoration/color, etc.also, i haven't been to a single outdoor wedding where i've noticed the brides dress was dirty.  i'm sure it was, just not something i ever actually NOTICED.... so i doubt anyone will.

Thank you SO much for all of your posts.  You are really making me feel better about any choice I'll make.  I haven't decided now, I'm gonna take my time to choose to make sure it'll be the perfect place.  But now I can relax a little after reading all of your reassuring words.  Thanks again!!
