I have heard both good and bad.  I didn't go with him because he seemed really pushy and wouldn't tell me his prices unless I met with him.  I told him I didn't want to meet with him until I found out if he was in my price range and he still wouldn't give me his pricing.  I am going with Black Tie Entertainment.  I went to a wedding they were at and they were great.  I also was told Jones Tones and Visa Versa were good in the Syracuse Area.

ditto PP..he was very pushy when I tried to get information from him and basically told me I had to meet with him in order for me to get any more information.  After I had decided to go with another DJ, I was bombarded with emails and phone calls from him asking me to meet, despite having told him I had already booked.  We ended up going with Jones Tones, from Syracuse and were extremely happy with him.

I have to disagree.  I am using Kevin Colangelo.  I have been to a few events that he has DJed and they have been GREAT! We met with both the Entertainment company and Kevin on the same day.  The meeting with the Entertainment company , in my opinion, seemed standard and routine.  Kevin gave idea after idea after idea, right from the start.  None of the ideas were to his benefit.  They were all to FI and I.  I felt as though in our meeting he wanted to know my FI and I more and understand what we wanted and what our vision was rather than just sell us a package.  I say, decide for yourself and meet with him. It is not fair to judge his services when you have not met with him to see what he is all about.  Let me know if you have any questions.  I will be happy to help anyone out!

I did not use him because he acted unprofessional and extreemly pushy. IMO if he is that pushy, his product must not be good.I emailed him after getting 17 emails from him, explaining I was going to use a different company. He inquired why and I told him the truth- I felt he was pushing himself on me without answering my questions. He said that I was acting "unprofessional" by saying this and I should be more "thankful" he was responding so frequently. While this is true...SEVENTEEN EMAILS!!! crazy! I didn't feel comfortable around him.

WOW!! i jsut had him as my DJ last night at my wedding and he was nothing but perfect and professional!  People danced ALL night long!  Everyone LOVED him and they all asked who he was and where I found him.  Kevin searched high and low for 2 very rare and very special songs for me to use in my wedding... he never gave me a hard time about how hard it would be to find them...he just went and got them!  Kevin has wonderful ideas and great taste - but if I didnt like something, Kevin backed down and found a new solution.  He never pushed me into anything.  Seriously I had a no pushiness from him ever and I would definatley recommend him to anyone who wants to make sure the dance floor is packed all night long.  As to not giving prices, I believe he does that to meet with you and see if there is a good mesh between you and him before having you decide on a DJ just for price.  A cheap DJ who gave you a price over the phone might annoy the crap out of you all night.  Kevin drove 45 minutes to my house for the meeting.  We loved his attitude and his ideas. you really NEED to meet your vendors face to face because your most special day is in their hands... you book on price alone.... you may get more attitude and irritation than you planned on.

I was considering Kevin Colangelo and another DJ told me to listen to this:http://www.discjockeyamerica.com/2006/09/07/chat-rash-episode-011/Kind of petty and not the most professional behavior on the part of the other DJ, but that pales compared to way Kevin comes across in that interview.  You have to listen to the whole thing to really hear the worst of it.
