DJ Reviews - Pro Sound and Light, MidWest Sound, Others?

Hello Ladies!I’m trying to pick a Dj, and there are so many options out there for DJs! I’m trying to find one from my June wedding, and not really sure what to look for, or how to know if they will be great! The two that have been reaching out to me and my FI are Midwest Sound and Pro Sound and Light. Are any of you going with these companies? Why or Why not? If you are working with another DJ, who and why did you pick them. I've also heard of Adagio and Instant Request. Any reviews from recent  brides or weddings you’ve gone to.  THANKS A MILLION for all your help!!!

    You know, I have yet to hear any terrible reviews about any of the major DJs in the Twin Cities. Personally, though, I didn't like the lack of flexibility with some of the larger companies. I didn't like the idea of never getting to meet my actual DJ until a brief phone call a couple of weeks before the wedding... and wasn't crazy about many of their "Sinatra, Classical, or nothing at all" approaches to Cocktail Hour and Dinner music.

    For these reasons (as well as budget) I went with Neon Express. Their website is a little dated looking, as is some of their equipment (a bride or two on here have experienced music-skipping... but luckily our reception was flawless). They aren't exactly the flashiest DJ service, but the music was good and the price was insanely good.

    I am actually booking with Midwest Sound when I get home tonight. I went to a friends wedding and they were very kid friendly keeping them busy with lights and fun music. The guy was great!!! Very entertainging. I talked with him over the phone after friendswedding wanting to book with him and he was not pushy and suggested to look at other opportunites and gave me tips into hiring a DJ which I would have never thought of. After looking around a bit I did not find anyone as friendly as them. Im glad I was ablt to see them in action and kind of know what to expect.

    We are going with Complete Music.   They were recommended by FFIL and FSIL who went to a wedding they DJd and said they were great...FI and I loved them when we met with them last spring!

    But like Maybe said, there have not been any negative reviews as far as I know for the big companies.  We met with Midwest, Instant Request, and Nightlife Entertainment (i thnk that's the name).  They were all friendly, helpful, and professional, we just clicked with the DJ we met with at CM the best!

    We also chose Neon Express-- purely for their prices. They are only $250 for the smallest system and $50 for the ceremony. Our DJ, Dave, has been amazing at returning emails and answering my questions. I have every confidence that he will do a good job. 
    My friend recently went with Midwest Sound. I don't know what kind of package she bought, but the DJ had lots of lights and each table had song request cards for guests to turn in. I didn't think that he did the greatest job as an MC or at getting the guests pumped up, but he did honor her music requests very well and put on a great light show.

    We booked with Midwest Sound. I probably posted basically the same post that you have going right now and that was what I decided on :) Based off pricing and flexibility we decided to go with them. We liked them when we met with them as well and really felt like they were going to put a lot of effort into making sure you have the type of DJ that you want for you event- you can let them know how much DJ participation you want and they had done several events at my venue so that was a plus as well.

    As several PPs have already said, Neon Express seems to be a great way to go. I haven't booked my DJ yet but I'm rather certain I'm going to go with them. You can't beat the price, and have only heard great things about them!

    I used Midwest Sound for my wedding as did my sister.  We had fantastic experiences and they did a wonderful job.

    I looked into Neon Express, Midwest Sound and Instant Request.  We booked with Midwest Sound becuase of there equipment, professionalism and expertise.  I had heard great and bad things about Neon Express and didn't want to take a risk with them.  I decided to spend the extra $100 to go with Midwest Sound.  Instant Request was a lot similar to Midwest Sound for us but decided on Midwest Sound becuase it was cheaper.

    We booked Midwest Sound (just this week actually)!!! If you call them and request certain price points they will be more than willing to help you out!
    FI and I met them at the I do ReDo sale and recieved an AWESOME package of Unlimited (literally unlimited) dinner and dance music + 3 enhancements, travel to St. Cloud and so much more for $495. The other plus is that their deposit is only $95 (and when you're putting all of those big deposits down, it's nice to have one that is on the "cheaper" side!)

    We went with Neon Express, too.  You can't beat the price, and if you're not looking for anything too fancy, they fit the bill.

    To OP,
    I am just about to start my DJ search, so your post was very helpful. It seems like most people are going with Midwest or neon express, so I will have to check out those two.

    I went with Midwest sound. If their prices sound high, call them for a quote and tell them you're really interested then let them wait for a week, they usually call back to check in with a lower quote :)

    Hi Everyone!!
    Thanks for all of your great replys! We got MidWest Sound to give us a price quote of $695 for unlimited music all night, plus 3 "free" extras. The extras can be light packages, a fog machine (which we will pass on), a bubble machine (which would be cool, but I'm not sure our venue would allow), a cordless mic, etc. So, the deal seems to be pretty good.

    I am still considering meeting with Instant Request and Pro Sound and Light, and from the sound of everyones posts, Neon Express seems like a great option too! Have any of you hear anything about Instant Request or Pro Sound and Light?
