I feel so lame...

It's almost 8:30 and I'm ready for bed. I just told Lucas I wanted to go to sleep and he was like, "already??" Ummmm, yeah, we get up before 5am every day, tomorrow's my running day at the fitness center, and I've just been cranky all week.

Any one else out there feel like an old maid sometimes? I know Rosie and I had a convo once about going to bed so early.

Re: I feel so lame...

  • Before I started working this 3-midnight shift, I used to be in bed between 9 and 9:30 if I wasn't working my part time job at the restaurant that night.
  • Every night the clock hits 8 and I'm itching to just crawl into bed. I feel bad because Lucas cn function on 4 hours of sleep. I just need a little more to get through the day.

  • I have slept so horribly the last 2 nights that I could easily take nyquil and go to bed right now, and it's only 5:30 here.  But I will just force myself to stay up and drink some wine.

I am definitely like an old woman though now.  I would gladly stay in and drink wine, either alone or with company, then go out anytime.  Last time we had friends drive up here we were going to go out, but we decided instead to spend money on a really great dinner, and then came back to the house to play Wii and drink iwne.

Loopy - I don't know how you do 3rd shift. I don't know that I could handle it. Lucas used to do shift work. 7 days swing shift (2-10pm) a couple of days off, 7 days overnight (10pm-7am) a couple of days off, Days (7am-4pm), then t-week (training week, same as days). This was when he was in the Navy. I was a) amazed that he could keep the schedule straight, and b) amazed he could handle all of the switching shifts.

  • I am basically incapeable of staying up past 10 (unless there is something awesome on like Top Chef or Mad Men.) FI always stays up way later I do and makes fun of me for going to bed early. I do not function on less than 8 hours though, and have always gone to bed really early.

FI is out of town for work tonight though, so I will probably just drink by myself and go to even earlier than usual.
  • DNB - That sounds like me and my friend when I visited her in Chicago. We were all set to go out on the town until we spent all day wandering around the city. We just decided to go to the pub a couple blocks from her house, ate dinner, and went home to watch Pretty Woman.

  • I'm usually getting in bed around 10.  I recently discovered that How I Met Your Mother is on Lifetime at 11 and 11:30, so I have been staying up until midnight watching it.  I watch it in bed and am usually passing out by the end.  If I were smart I would just DVR it and watch it some other time.  But I'm in love with and therefore am now exhausted throughout the week.

  • We usually put on a DVD of a tv show like Family Guy when we crawl into bed and I'm out before the end of the first episode.

  • FI and I were both forcing ourselves to not fall asleep at 6pm. I always feel like an old maid.
  • Oh I feel old all the time haha. If I didn't have a Grad paper to write, I'd be in bed already. We would much rather stay in and have a game night than go out bar hopping, which is unusual with our other 25-year-old friends. But I don't care. It's too darn cold right now anyway to go running around when I can be cuddly and warm at home :)

  • mkrupar I know exactly what you mean. I've finally accepted it too. :) It makes it a lot easier. If H and I are tired at 7:30 or 8:00... we don't fight it, we just hit the hay. It's happened a lot since I started my new job haha.
  • I've gone to sleep at 8:30 three times this week.  But I admitted I was lame a long time ago.  Don't fight it......it feels good to be lame, at least you're well rested when you have a lame life.  ;)

[QUOTE]I've fully accepted that I'm an 80 year old grandma in a 25 year old's body. If it makes you feel any better, I went to bed before 8. I think it might have been 7:30 actually. Edit: (I did that last night.)

  • I managed to make it to 9pm last night. I do try and stay up a little later on Fridays though since I don't have to get up too early on Saturdays. Maybe tonight will be date night with dinner and a movie.
