S. Side Works restaurants (P&R)

Just popping in here to get some suggestions on inexpensive restaurants near S. Side Works. We've gone to the Pita Pit before and that was yummy, but curious if there are other cheap places with good food. Bonus points if everything isn't deep-fried. I think I will turn into a french fry pretty soon!I'm leaving work around 4p, but I can check back on my ipod later, though I haven't figured out how to post on it yet! lol

There is Michaels on Sarah Street - between 26th and 27th - good pizza and other stuff.Don't go to the Mexican place - Emilianos - it's pretty bad.If you're looking for something like Pita Pit - there's also Subway, Qdoba, Rosa's Pizza on that same block. There's Excuses on Carson & 26th - mostly bar food though. Then of course there's Cheesecake Factory, Hofbrauhouse (no clue if that's spelled right), the Claddaugh, Tusca, McCormick & Schmicks - though these are a bit more $.Cupka's is back on Sarah & 28thShootz isn't too far, neither is Double Wide Grill

Pittsburgh Steak Company is a few blocks from SS Works and is very affordable (I worked right near there and Pittsburgh Steak Company was our fav lunch spot!).

Shootz actually closed down.  There is the Library and Cupka's II (right on Carson on The Library Side) Double Wide is good as well.

The Library and Double Wide are awesome.  We are actually meeting a Baltimore Knottie & her FI at Double Wide on Saturday!  Taco Loco used to be there at the Mill Site Tavern, but the bar owners kicked them out basically, I hear they are supposed to reopen in the South Hills somewhere by year's end. We were crushed, it's out fave Mexican place.

Did Shootz really close? I'm thinking of the right place... with about 20 pool tables?Ha. I'm surprised.

yeah, my neighbor said all the pool tables are gone and everything.  I was surprised, Shootz has been there a long time.

Huh, Shootz always seemed so busy any time we'd go there (ok, granted it was only a few times). I'm going to make mental notes of all these suggestions for next time! We actually realized after I left work that we'd get stuck in major traffic if we left right away, so we ate at home and left after that, bc we were so hungry. Thanks everyone! Great ideas! :-)
