I need some opinions. i have been engaged before and was six months away from the wedding when my ex decided he didn't want to get married. So i have a dress. It is ok for me to use it again for this wedding? I really love it and i'm not really finding anything i would like more. And there's another problem. Since the time i bought the dress i have dropped two dress sizes. The dress is a 16w and i'm now a size 12 or maybe ten if i'm lucky. Do you think i should try to fix it. I do know someone who is amazing with alterations and i'm going to get her opinion as well. Help!! I'm just not sure what i should do!!

    If you really like that dress use it. You kept it for a reason so spend the money on alterations.

    Take it to a seamstress and see if it can be altered without losing its integrity. If so - then it's up to you. If you love it, I say wear it ... it'll save you money and shopping time, plus it's just an article of clothing. It has nothing to do with your ex-FI.

    thank you for all of your opinions. It will save me money to keep it. But I'm kinda hoping they can't fix it so i can get a new one anyway.

    It is totally up to you - I definitely do not believe in dress karma. But  I think you are undecided because on the one hand you say you love it but on the other that you hoped it can't be fixed so you can get a new one. If you want a new one I think you should get it guilt-free. And if you don't then it's fine to wear this one. So for me the question is 'do you like it enough to wear it' rather than 'should I wear it because it was purchased when I was previously engaged'.Good luck in your decision! :)

    Superstition might say you should get a new dress. But if you like it, use it. Maybe change it up, add some stuff, take away stuff, make it your own. Have it reflect something about your new FI that he likes.

    If I were you I'd just alter the dress you love.  You can always change something up - modify the neckline, add a sash or something to make it  a little different if you are feeling superstitious.

    Well, congratulations! Sounds like this guy got lucky (the other one rues the day he ever let you go, I bet).  My advice to you on the dress thing -- give yourself permission to get yourself a new dress.  You and the first dress have been through a lot.  Plus you lost all this weight (good for you).  Treat yourself now! Gorgeous dresses can be had for just hundreds and even preowned dresses will be new to their new bride.  This other dress -- let it be someone else's find.  It's history for you girl!
