    Daniel Lee Video
    Dumont, NJ
Video (including Bridal Prep, ceremony, cocktail hour, reception), editing, 1 man/2 camera, various other elements (used June 2010): under $1500

We never had a face to face meeting with Daniel because of the distance but we did have a phone meeting.  Based on reviews and our phone meeting we decided to book him.  MH called him the Tuesday before the wedding to confirm and everything was all set and that he would be there for our wedding.  On the day of, his video guy Ben showed up at my door and told me that Daniel had overbooked and was in San Antonio.  Ben told me that he had known for two weeks and was shocked I didn't know that it would be him filming and not Daniel.  Ben felt badly for dropping the bomb on me about an hour before the ceremony.  I called MH to confirm that he did indeed confirm with Daniel and he said this was the first he had heard of Daniel not being there. We were very upset since we were under the impression that it would be Daniel filming given our initial phone meeting, conversations after we booked him, and that Daniel didn't tell us when we talked to him 3-4 days before the wedding.  Ben was very good though; we had asked for unobtrusive videography and that's exactly what he did.  The only time I really noticed him all day was when he was setting up some lighting for the dance floor.  We emailed Daniel all photos necessary for the montage 5 months after our wedding and we have not yet received our video or have received any concrete answer as to when will will get it (now 4 months after we emailed him the photos and 9 months after our wedding) despite a number of emails to Daniel.

    Dash of Class
DJ who did music, uplighting and video...
    http://dashofclass.com/
Vito (owner) Springield, NJ office and Staten Island, NY office
    Wedding- August 2010
Approx cost $2k - $200 for video, $200 for uplighting
He was wonderful! All my friends recommended him and his services. He played all the right music and the right times, everyone complimented us.  We paid extra for the uplighting (so awesome and worth the money!) and for the special video. Basically he came to the church and taped our vows and then after we cut the cake he put it up on the big screen, everyone was just so shocked! They worked so hard the whole night long editing this- a whole team helped Vito. We were told if we went with Dash of Class to be sure we ask for Vito to do our wedding. He really made our entertainment that night- we highly recommend him!

PS- there was no need for us to hire a videographer because Vito did the mini-video for us of the most important events. This service was just $200.

We also used Daniel in October 2010. I was worried because I had a hard time contacting him before the wedding. About 4 days before, we finally spoke to review the wedding day timeline. I didn't have my contract on me when we spoke, and I thought there were some things included (photo montage and bridal prep) that he said it wasn't.  But I later found out it was and he wasn't there for it. So that is something we still need to address.

The day of, he was there (I've heard he sent other people to shoot the weddings for some other people and they were terrible) and very unobtrusive.  However, there were some things (such as guest interviews) discussed during our final meeting that weren't done. As far as the production of our video, we were told 8-10 weeks. In November he asked for music choices, we gave our music in December and just got our sample video last week.

We're pretty happy with the edited video and the end product. He's new to the wedding scene and I think he needs to work some things out (ex: overbooking, communication). But overall he did a good job for the price you pay.

    Hey Peaches :-)
I missed the earlier posts so I'll give you my 3 reviews here

    VENUE :-)
Name of vendor being reviewed - The Manor
    - Location of vendor - West Orange, NJ
    - Any specific individuals you worked with who you would or would not recommend to others -  We worked with Jimmy, who was ok, Rolf helped us at the end and he was much more helpful!
    - Month, year, day of the week, and/or time of your wedding - October 2010, Saturday night, it was cheaper pricing after Columbus Day!

    - APPROXIMATE price you paid (please avoid providing exact prices - instead, consider writing that you paid less than a certain amount, more than a certain amount, or between two amounts - ex: "The total cost was less than $100 per person.") - Just over $100 per person with all taxes and gratituties

    - Your knottie name so that others can page you on The Knot with questions - rutgersgirl82

    -Additional Details -
When we first saw the manor we knew this was the place for us, the grounds are absolutely beautiful and make for great picture spots and the food is even more incredible (I'd def rec their restaurant for a great romantic dinner). They were easy to work with leading up to the event and accommodated all of our changes and requests. My only minor thing was the day of they tried to restrict us from some picture spots I really wanted, we got one quick photo but looking back I wish I had pushed harder for some more, but oh well, we got great shots other places. The day of they took excellent care of me and the hubby, someone always got us a drink before we could even ask. The other small things we worried about leading up to the day all worked out fine (ie: DH worried about rolling chairs, small dance floor, tables being on top of the dance floor and some other things). Looking back I don't think we even noticed these things the day of. The dance floor was a little small but it was packed the entire time. Everyone told us that the food was great. For the price that we paid, the incredible grounds & food we were absolutely delighted with The Manor

    Back Post - PHOTOGRAPHER

Name of vendor being reviewed - John Arcara Photography

    - Location of vendor - Red Bank, NJ

    - Any specific individuals you worked with who you would or would not recommend to others - NA - John & His wife Lovina were both great!

    - Month, year, day of the week, and/or time of your wedding - Saturday night, October 2010

    - APPROXIMATE price you paid (please avoid providing exact prices - instead, consider writing that you paid less than a certain amount, more than a certain amount, or between two amounts - ex: "The total cost was less than $100 per person.") - Over $5,000 (included fine arts album, proofs, 2 photographers - but we got 3, e-pics)

    - Any pros and cons of dealing with the vendor before, during, and/or after your wedding

    - Your knottie name so that others can page you on The Knot with questions - rutgersgirl82

    - Additional Details - All I have to say is wow, they are amazingly talented and incredible people to work with. Their work speaks for itself! Although they were the most expensive photographers we met with they are worth absolutely every single penny we paid. I would book them again in a heartbeat. This was one expense we knew we didn't want to cut on. The day of they were such a blast to hang out with and so much fun. They lived up to their awesome reputation and their ability to take amazing pictures and just be great people to hang out with.

    Back Post - DJ

Name of vendor being reviewed - Gemini Productions

    - Location of vendor - Wayne, NJ

    - Any specific individuals you worked with who you would or would not recommend to others - Mike (from the front office/mgr) was great!!!

    - Month, year, day of the week, and/or time of your wedding - Saturday night, October 2010

    - APPROXIMATE price you paid (please avoid providing exact prices - instead, consider writing that you paid less than a certain amount, more than a certain amount, or between two amounts - ex: "The total cost was less than $100 per person.") About $2000, included UPLIGHTS, gobo, DJ and MC, cocktail hour, and lighting package

    - Your knottie name so that others can page you on The Knot with questions - rutgersgirl82

-Additional details - We picked Gemini after meeting with Mike, we had met with some other DJ companies and only one made us feel as comfortable. We were honestly a little nervous on our selection, we didn't have any personal recommendations to go off and hadn't heard them before but all our fears were VERY quickly put to ease! To say that they did exactly what we wanted and met all our expectations would be an understatement. They did a fantastic job with every detail. In addition to the DJ services we also got amber uplighting around the room and a gobo - which was fantastic - we loved that extra touch. The guys did an amazing job with the music it was the PERFECT mix of songs. They knew exactly what the crowd was responding to and played off of that and had our dance floor packed from start to finish. We could not be any happier with the job that they did. Everyone is still talking about the DJ and how great all the music they played was!!

ok thats all mine peaches.... sorry i was late to the game with my reviews..... I can't wait to post my bridal gown store posts too, haha.... hope all your wedding planning is going well, not too much longer!!!!

Thanks everyone!  All of the reviews have been added!

rutgersgirl - No problem at all!  :-)  Hahaha... yes!  I definitely can't wait to read your bridal store review!

Wedding planning is going well!  We're still in the calm before the storm, I think.  The only thing that's stressing me out is knowing that in a couple weeks (when my district goes on spring break) I have to make 100 invitations and all of the inserts.  I'm trying not to think about it, though, because it allows me to pretend that I'm really not going to be sitting in front of my printer for 4 days straight wanting to wail on it with a baseball bat... kind of like the ostrich that sticks its head in the ground and assumes no one can see it, haha.

I hope married life is treating you well!  :-)
