Including Hotel info with STD??

I know I have some time before my wedding (May 2014) but last night I was talking to my fiance about what I'd like to book now and what I think we can wait on.  I was thinking that blocking out hotel rooms was something that could wait.

We're taking out engagement pics in April or May of this year and sending out our STDs shortly after.  Would it be tacky or helpful to include the hotel information in the STDs?

The hotels we are interested would provide a shuttle to our venue (The Tides) and my fiance's family will be traveling from Brooklyn/Long Island/Staten Island.

Re: Including Hotel info with STD??

  • We included hotel information on a separate card with our STD magnet.  We have a lot of people that will need to stay over and I think its best to give them as much info as possible in advance.  I don't think it can hurt to include it.
  • We included a link to our wedding website on our STD and didn't include hotel information... that was on the wedding website.  That way, we could update information as it changed.

In the end, only a few guests booked early.  The rest waited until they got the invitation.

If you've got the info ready to go, it can't hurt to send it out now.

  • Since our wedding was over Labor Day weekend, we wanted to give people as much notice as possible to book.  We did a STD magnet and included a backer with the magnet that had the hotel info.  Some people took advantage and booked as soon as they got the STD (but many others waited until they got the actual invite).  I think it's extremely helpful to include hotel info since you need to provide your guests with as much info as possible.  Even though our STD had the link to our wedding website, the older guests don't think to look there for info.  Tacky would be if you included where you're registered or something along those lines.

Also, I suggest getting your room block now so you can lock in 2013 rates.  It's easy and doesn't require you to put any money down to hold the room block.
