How was the weekend?
Sat- we went to see FIL. Official diagnosis was a mini-stroke. They are concerned about additional clots on the back of his artificial heart valve (I guess that's common). They are running some tests today. If they find some they will pump him with drugs to try to break them up. sMIL is doing pretty well with the whole situation which was a concern since she had a recent stroke and has dimentia.
Sun- We had my family reunion. 6 hrs of food and play left my kids sacked out. They actually slept past 6 for the first time ever.
Stuff:
1. sMIL's daughter (late 40's) moved out of her husband's home straight to the home of nother man. She stayed with him for 2 wks before moving in with FIL and smIL.
2. FIL's sister was on her way to visit her child molester bf and got picked up for drunk driving. There has to be more to the story because she spent 2 nights in jail.
Re: Morning!
Saturday - we cleaned house and DH and I went to look at furniture. One end of our couch is broken. We've got a cheap set that we've had since we first moved in together and it finally died.
Sunday - we had DD1's party. We all had a good time and she was so funny opening her presents. She'd yell "This.Is.Awesome!" or "Aw, this is sooooo cute." or "I wanted this!" She loves her baby bunk bed, btw. She had it shoved right up next to her bed so she could get her babies if they cried.
Sunday: We got up and went back to my IL's to pick up the kiddo (who fell asleep there Saturday night) and our other car (that FIL drove back to their house Saturday afternoon). I left early to take DefConn back home for a nap (but not until he tripped and faceplanted into the TV cabinet.
Randoms (not as scandalous as 6's):
1. SIL is in 'baby' mode. They're not pregnant (I think they just started trying), but she's hell-bent on it happening soon. I got to listen to all the things she thinks she's going to do when she has a kid (from bf-ing to co-sleeping to home schooling). I hate it when anyone tells anyone to 'wait until you have kids', but I was thisclose to using the phrase. She needs to slow her roll.
2. While the boys had fun doing the Warrior Dash, there were a couple things that were annoying as hell.
1: They had one path from the parking lot into the entrance. Right before you got to the entrance, there was a giant mud pit and no way to really get around it. I get that it's a muddy obstacle course run and I didn't wear nice shoes or anything, but come the hell on. Who, as a spectator, wants to walk around with super muddy shoes? When I saw that pit, I was instantly glad we didn't have DefConn.
2: The entrance fee was $60 per person (and I think it's on a graduated scale, so you pay more as the race gets closer). Parking was $20 per car on top of that. We were all taken aback by that (there was no parking info on the site). We almost took 2 cars. We were sure glad we didn't after seeing the price for parking. Highway robbery.
taw, the baby bunk bed story is cute.
weekend was fine. i am still exhausted and we really did not much of anything. we were out all weekend so our home is still as destroyed as we left it friday afternoon.
This weekend was pretty good. I finally got home on Friday and then slept 4 hours. Woke up, picked up DS, ordered pizza, and we were both in bed by 8 pm. DH had to work late and wasn't home till 9 pm.
Saturday I slept in, then got up and went grocery shopping with DS. Came home, relaxed, and didn't do much.
Sunday I met my parents for lunch. DS was thrilled to see his Mom Mom and Pop Pop. DH played video games, I did laundry, and we watched Breaking Bad (last week's episode) that night.
Very lowkey which was what I needed.
