Bridesmaid Dresses

Hey yall! I am getting married on October 13 and I still have not picked out bridesmaid dresses! I am supposed to be going to Davids Bridal in the morning but only 2 out of 6 are able to make it. =(
Its just so confusing and so many to choose from and its even harder when I cant get my whole bridal party together to try on dresses... they all are various sizes and shapes.
I want my MOH to have a different dress, preferably a one shoulder side strap. I want my sister (she has a HUGE) bird tattoo right smack dab in the middle of her chest) and I want to get a dress that wraps around her neck and covers her chest. I want all the girls to wear same color, same fabric, same length, but different tops. Since my MOH has one strap and my sister will have a y neck... I was thinking to get one to wear a strapless dress, one to wear two straps... but then there are two more girls and I dont know which kind of strap/top I want..
Should I just get them all to wear the same dress except for my sister and my MOH?

UGH I just dont know what to do! Part of me wants my MOH to wear a different color dress but I just dont know how that will look with BMs all wearing different dresses.

MOH and sister are in the long dresses

I like this one, I think.. but the MOH (which is beside the not-dressed bride, lol) but with one strap over shoulder.

Any suggestions!??

Re: Bridesmaid Dresses

  • Have you thought about letting them all pick their own dresses?  You mentioned that they all have different body shapes, so that might be a nice option for them.  I'm not sure if I like the idea of having your MOH and your sister in different dresses.  I would either just do your MOH in a different dress or all of them in their own choice of dress.  Doing it this way too will allow you to just tell them the color, the fabric, and the length and they can just go up there when they have the time (within the deadline that you give them).

You need to make some decisions pretty quickly.  Most places take 3 months for their dresses to come in and you need to account for time to do the alterations.  You are in danger of paying rush fees.

Good luck and have fun with it!

  • Yep. Let them pick. Save yourself the stress.

  • I would take them to a wedding dress store pick out the color and let them decide what dress they want to wear.  If 2 of the girls pick the same dress I think it will be fine.  It takes the stress off of you.  I have 9 bridesmaids so I picked out 3 different style dresses with same color and fabric.  I picked out who wore what though to make it easier and to make sure all the dresses were spread out evenly.

  • I agree - save yourself the hassle. Select some guidelines, and it should narrow down options enough, while still allowing everyone to choose something they're comfortable in...
(all in same designer, color, fabric, length), and I'm SUPER happy with how it turned out - see below!
