Engagement Pictures

I am just curious on yalls take on this.  I think it is up to our photographer to direct us and tell us how to pose.  My mom thinks I should tell him how we want to pose.  I personally feel that I am paying him I should not have to do his job and he should know what will look best.  Let me know what yall think?  Thanks!

Maybe have some ideas of your own--they'll ask you.  But I say trust the person you've asked to take your pictures.  They're the professional.

The photographer should know how to pose you. If you've seen someone else's pictures and like on of theirs you can tell the photographer about it.

Yep what PP said. It is their job to know what poses are going to look best through the camera. If you have something specific you want then mention it but we left it up to our photographer to do most of the dirty work. He even had us try something he's always wanted to try with other couples! And it is one of my fave pictures :)

If you've seen certain engagement photos on the internet that you like, by all means show them to your photographer so they get a sense of your style.  Otherwise, as far as exactly how to pose, I'd trust the photographer's eye, they're the ones seeing it through the lens.

Ditto pp.   Mine told me I can bring pictures if there are specific things I like, but otherwise I'd leave it up to them!

I would have some ideas. My engagement photographer was great at posing us. For my bridals, I had a different photographer and wish I had come prepared with some more unique poses myself , ut I do think your photographer SHOULD pose you, but good to be prepared.

I prefer not to tell my couple exactly how to pose. To me that just makes it look to "posed". But I will give guidance. I feel like if you let the couple move around and be together how they feel comfortable then you'll capture their personality. Now, if the couple really doesn't want to pose themselves or are very uncomfortable in front of the camera then I have no problem posing them. :) When I had mine taken I realized that I don't like having my picture taken so I enjoyed being told semi-what to do. :)
