*Pumpkin*

I was going to try to make the Apple Pie Wine you had posetd last week, but I can't find apple cider anywhere.  Where did you get yours? Thanks!

Re: *Pumpkin*

  • I should add that I was looking only in grocery stores.  This may be the absolute wrong kind of place to get it, I'm not sure, though.
  • Youll find better apple cider outside of the grocery store - at a farmers market or at an actual farm (where they grow apples). Best cider ive had was direct from the farm.
  • Butting in. I get mine at grocery stores, in the produce section. I even found it at walmart this weekend. But, I also know you can get it from apple orchards or fruit stands or farmer's markets, if you have them in your area.

  • Ditto Nebb.  If you have an apple orchard nearby, that's the place to go.  Or hit the local farmer's markets.  If those don't work, did you check in the produce section of the grocer's?  That's where the apple cider usually can be found.
  • We make Apple Pie, but we call it red eye. And we use everclear.

  • fish has lost her damn mind!and i saw some at walmart last night.
  • Vogt is right - you can get it at the grocery store. Not sure of your set up but it is usually in the area where they sell pomegranet juice, salads, crap like that. Atleast here thats where it is. I dont knwo if it would affect your wine if it has preservatives or not, but you can get 100% preservative free cider from some farms, and its delicious!
  • We have to get ours at a specialty foods store. That's the only place around here to find it. Safeway used to carry it.

  • She's in Eastern Alberta. We're a little short on orchards around here.

  • Not so much.  We've got lots of wheat and barley though :) My mom has a small orchard on their farm, but she long ago stopped pressing the apples.  It's a lot of work.  But we don't have the climate for good apples.

  • Huh... I would not have known that. Sidenote: I know that tropicana (or one of those brands) makes an apple cider, its very sugary though. Its usually in the same section as the oj and other carton juices.
  • I do know I've seen apple cider in the grocery stores this time of year, but you may have to come to Edmonton to find it.  I'm not sure if Lloyd would carry it...  You could try the walmart there.I think I may have seen apple cider at costco in the past, but I could be wrong about that too.

  • Thanks everybody! Ditto Wading on our unfortunate lack of orchards around here.  I'll have to check out Walmart - it's the only grocery store in town I haven't checked yet.
  • We have to get ours at a specialty foods store. We have none of these here, which sucks really hard.  If my trip to Walmart proves unsuccessful, I may have to check in Edmonton next time I'm up.Thanks again!
  • TiDa, they have it at my Walmart too. I saw some on an endcap in the grocery section yesterday. I realize I'm a million miles away from you, but surely they'd carry it at the majority of Walmarts, and not just a few.
