Has anyone ever attended or had their wedding reception at Courages Sailing's Pier 4 in the Navy Yard in Charlestown? My fiance and I are pretty dead set on having our wedding here. We had our first date at Tavern on the Water, just two piers away. We spoke to the Ex Dir Sept 6 and they had one permit left. We contacted her on the 12th but she was out of the office through 20th. When my fiance called, the last evening event permit was taken, someone had mailed in a check while she was out. There is still a chance that we can have our reception there. The ex dir is trying to get 5 more evening permits for events for 2012. Basically they have to have a neighborhood hearing, that is this Wednesday. Then a hearing with the City of Boston Licesning Board. According to the Ex Dir, the hearing won't be able to happen until February. She seems very optimistic.
So do we take a chance for our dream wedding and wait until February for final confirmation? The only deposit we will be losing is a $200 catering deposit. We don't have to make any other deposits until then.
But say it does fall through. Most backup places will be booked.
Our date is July 21, 2012.
Suggestions, thoughts, experiences welcome.
