Vent and Worried (HM related)

So we booked our Disney cruise the day after sailing dates for 2013 were announced. We would have booked first day when prices are supposed to be the best, but I found out a day late...

Well yesterday, my mom calls and says that our cruise is sold out (a couple family members were also planning on going on the cruise, we don't expect to see much of them at all) and wanted to know what gives. It wasn't sold out two days ago and no other cruise in our month is anywhere close to being sold out. Posted on my cruise meet on the DIS and someone mentioned that they were worried they would be turning it into a DVC member only cruise. Which appreantly means that they can kick off everyone with existing reservations who is not a DVC member.

I am stressed and majorly POed that this is even possible. We booked two years out, were paid before the one year mark, and we have already requested these specific dates off for our HM and been approved. FI keeps telling me not to worry until we get official word from the DCL, but I am super stressed out. I wasn't even aware that this was something that was a possible concern. I figured once we had our reservation we were good to go. Fellow cruisers have tried calling DCL and DVC to find out what's going on and they haven't gotten any answers.

Blah. :(

  • I know how it is to get stressed out after you think you've done everthing right to plan ahead.  But right now if I'm understanding your post all you have is less than a rumor about it being turned into a DVC cruise.  So don't worry.  But to ease your mind maybe try contacting them as though you are trying to reserve a seat on a different cruise that's not sold out.  I would think it'll be easier to get in touch with a real person if you're trying to spend money.  Then once you have them on the line tell them your situation and what information you're looking for.  If they say they don't know, ask to speak to their supervisor or whomever could let you know.  At the very least their computer should tell them what's "currently" going on with that particular trip.  If they try to give you the usual customer service number tell them you've already tried that and can't seem to get a reply after several tries.  Basically be your sweet self but don't let them put you off until they give you a direct connection to someone who can give you an update.  Let us know how it goes ok?
  • Oh no! I didn't think DVC had that much clout to kick others off cruises. Could you rent DVC points if this is the case?

  • I called DCL yesterday and they had no update on the cruise. They said there's a note attached to it that there's an announcement or something, but with it being a holiday they weren't sure if they would get the information today or tomorrow.

I'm not sure if we could rent or not, but from what I understand points for a cruise = horrible value and would make the cruise much more expensive for us. Apparently they do a members only cruise ever year in September. It's usually just earlier in the month. >_<
