Help! Need honeymoon ideas!

Hi ladies!  We are in desperate need of some honeymoon ideas.  Since we're in Florida, we want something that is easy to get to on this side of the world ( ex. not hawaii, even though i love it there and it would be great..2 days of travel is too long for us).  We do want something really relaxing and beachy.  This is totally different then what we were thinking of before of going to Rome!  I've read good and bad things about resorts, not a huge fan of cruises although we'd consider one.  Any ideas? where are you ladies honeymooning? Thanks!

Welll...I'm going to Florenec, Rome and Italy so that's not a big help! :) We were originally thinking of going to St. Lucia. It's similar to Hawaii w/the lush vegetation and mountainous areas. Gorgeous!

We are going on a cruise. We are doing 7 nights and it stops at the Bahamas, St. Thomas and St. Maarten. He is not a big fan of beaches but I love them so we compromised by going on a cruise.

We're also going on a cruise, but we're going to more exotic locations.  We're going to Cozumel, Belize, Roatan, and Costa Maya.

The FI wanted an adventurous HM and I didn't want to leave the states, so we're flying out to AZ, renting a car and hitting as many National Parks as we can until we need to catch a flight out of San Fransisco to get home.  We're thinking: Petrified Forest/Painted Desert Park, Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam/Vegas (for a night), Death Valley, Yosemite, then San Fransisco for what time we have left.  We'll be honeymooning in November next year, so the heat won't be an issue and they haven't opened up reservations at hotels in the Grand Canyon and Yosemite yet. It's exciting enough to want to skip the wedding and head out on our adventure instead, : )

Mexico! We stayed at the El Dorado Seaside Suites. Look it up- it is one of Forbe's most romantic resorts. It was absolutely fabulous- great food, amazing service, beautiful resort. I highly recommend it.

You normally get the best deals if you book over a year in advance or like a week before the cruise.  We booked ours 15 months out and now a lower category than we have is more than $1000 more per person.

We have a 5 night cruise going to the Bahamas from Jacksonville. We don't have any fancy bells and whistles (ocean view) since they didn't have balcony =( ) but we got it at a steal. (598.00 +taxes and vacation insurance) For 775.00You could try the Amelia Island Plantation or St. Augustine for a romantic getaway.

We also used "cruise shark" to monitor if the price drops for on board credit. I ended up getting 40.00 OBC doing this!

KKB -- They're actually adding balconies on the Fascination at the next dry dock!

Yeah! Time for refurbishment! :) It got a small one in 2007, I think, but they're dry docking her soon to do the major overhaul. I'm so excited because I'm SURE I'll want to go on her again since I live 20 minutes from the port ;)

We went to the Sandals Grande in St. Lucia and it was fabulous. It was so relaxing, beautiful beaches and mountains. The resort and staff were amazing. I can't wait to go back... it is definitely an amazing honeymoon location.

We did the 6 island cruise out of Puerto Rico. It was less than a three hour flight from Orlando and went to great islands (St Thomas, Dominica, Barbados, St. Lucia, Antigua, St Kitts) and could either beach it if we wanted to, or just be lazy and hand on our balcony. We booked 6 months out and got a great deal too, plus a past guest discount.

I'm not sure if you want to stay sort've local but you could always go up to Asheville, NC to the Biltmore estate.  It's gorgeous up there no matter what time of year.  When my DH and I got engaged he planned a weeklong engagement vacation for us.  It started in Savannah, then Charleston (which I think may have been my favorite) and the Biltmore in NC.  We also went white water rafting up there since I had never done it.

Cruises are nice.  I did a 7-day cruise a few years ago with 10 of friends.  We did Montego Bay, Grand Cayman and Cozumel.  Lots of food, fun, and only a bit of relaxation!  Since we live in Europe and my fiance has only been to the states once (last year when he proposed), we decided that we are going to stay in Florida for the honeymoon.  We are doing 6 days at Disney, 2 days in St. Petersburg, and then 4 days in South Beach.  I have never been to Miami...so I am excited about that part of the trip.  Plus this will give him a chance to see more of Florida.   If you like cruises, you can catch them out of Gulfport, MS or New Orleans.  I just found this...a place called Honeymoon Island in Florida:  http://www.romantichoneymoonisland.com/
A happy newlywed...now time to start a family!
