Ordered dress online, not happy...

I ordered my dress from bestbridalprices.com, the service was great and dress arrived about a week early. looks just like the pictures online, no problems with the website. My problem is the dress makes me look so fat, I only tried on a few dresses at Davids bridal but was in love with this dress online so I took a risk and ordered without trying it on. I'm a street size 10, ordered a 12. I have gained some weight over the last year so I know I'm far from skinny but I thought the rouching(not sure how to spell that word) would make me look slimmer. Instead I feel like it just added bulk to my front side, yuck!I don't know what to do, I can't afford another dress, DF and I are going to Jamaica to get married with just the 2 of us so I know I should just suck it up but I'm so unhappy with it. I'm attaching some pics, please let me know what you think of the dress. Re: Ordered dress online, not happy...

  • I think it looks pretty.  If you are uncomfortable in it, try a pair of spanx, it may pull everything in.
  • I honestly think that it is very pretty. You have a great figure and look wonderful! I hope everything works out for what you want though. GL!
  • I don't think it looks bad on you, and ditto pp, spanx make EVERYTHING all better.  The sweetheart top is also flattering on you.  I would get it pressed, try it on with a pair of spanx, and see if you feel any better about it.
  • Your dress doesn't look bad at all! The sweetheart neckline looks great and I don't think the rouching is bad at all.
  • It's a beautiful dress & you look great in it! It gives you great curves.  I agree with pp, proper undergarments & a good pressing will make a world of difference.
  • I honestly think it's very flattering and doesn't make you look fat at all. The only suggestion I can offer is to add some volume to the skirt to balance out your top, if you're really unhappy with how your torso looks. I suppose a crinny would be pretty hot in Jamaica... maybe a smaller hoop skirt.

  • I like the idea of the rouching. I think you need to get it pressed or steamed, get some spanx, do up your hair, put on the veil if you're using one, and try again. If you still don't like it, see if there's a way to do something else. I have a similar figure, but a lot bustier, and I ended up with a v-neck. It helped a lot with the back fat issue of strapless.
  • Like all the other women, I HONESTLY think it looks really good on you! Do the things the others said--get Spanx, get the dress pressed, and, if you have some time before your wedding, add some more exercise into your routine--just so you feel more confident in yourself. I love your dress!
  • I must say that I agree the dress looks great on you, like the others said try spanx. If your stll not happy if you have the time try to sale it on ebay and use that money for another one if your truly not happy with the dress
  • Looks pretty good to me! Get Spanx or some sort of equivalent and you will be fine! Your veil and bouquet will also help pull everything together.

  • Thanks everyone, nobody has seen me in it but my two sons! Wanted to show it to my mom but she's sick with H1N1 and no one else lives close by. I will take your advice and buy a spanx, they will press it for me in Jamaica. I think my issue is seeing so many skinny brides that when I compare myself to them I just feel big. I really appreciate all the great comments!
  • I think it looks great. Really, you look beautiful in it.
  • I think if your hair was fixed, you had some bride type of shoes on and the dress was pressed, it would look very pretty.
  • I think it looks great on you! Very flattering! I agree with pp that if you're very uncomfortable for for spanx or crinoline underneath the skirt!
  • OMG, I think it looks great!  The way you described it I was bracing myself for the worst haha!  Far from it!  I do think that the rouching and the sweetheart neckline are flattering.  If you are thinking of doing alterations I would v the back just a bit cause I think that's more flattering.  Other than that I think it looks good on your curves but u have to feel good in it!
  • I agree with everyone else, you look wonderful!  If you want to accentuate your waist more how about adding a sash.  But even if you leave it the way it is you'll look great.

  • The dress looks so great on you! I agree with what others have said, if you press it & put some heels on you will love it too. Did you try any rouching dresses at the store before you bought it? I only ask because at first I thought I would not like rouching thinking it would add layers to me, and when I first tried one on, I thought it did, but I think it was only my perception because yesterday after a sales girl said I should try one on, I did and really liked the rouching & now understand why so many brides choose it. After it's pressed the rouching will look even better.
  • i think you look beautiful! the gown is sooo flattering on you. i agree w/ the other girls when they say to try it on w/ a pair of spanx. are you going to wear a veil? that may help you feel more like a bride and prettier. good luck, do what feels right!
