CANDY BUFFET

DO YOU THINK THIS IS A GOOD IDEA??    I have a big sweet tooth and I love it.  MY mom on the other hand doesnt think so. Due to the fact that my cousin kids are evil and don't know who to act..

Re: CANDY BUFFET

  • There are tons of people who have have had and are planning to do a candy buffet. If you want it, do it.  I'm planning on one but will "open" it sometime during the latter part of the evening.  That way for all those who don't know "how to act" everyone else will have a fair shot at indulging.
  • I LOVE IT!!!!!!  I love candy...I could eat it all day....I think it's a great idea!!!!!  Maybe something to put out after dinner....I'm sure it will be a hit. That could also just be my empty stomach talking, though.  ;)
  • I'm doing one.  I just did my mockup last night--it looks great and I can't wait to see it at the wedding.  I'm not having any kids however.  Surely your cousin's kids know how to act or will be well supervised.  If not, then you've got bigger things to worry about.
  • I'm doing one too. Our florist/day of coordinator is taking care of it though. We pay her a fee per person and she provides everything for it and sets it up. She replenishes it throughout the entire reception...I'm excited about it!
  • I DON'T KNOW WHAT WE'RE YELLING ABOUT!!They're insanely popular right now.  If you're worried about the evil cousins, have a member of the banquet or catering staff assigned to supervise the candy buffet to make sure the kids don't go nuts.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • I have only seen it once in real life. Nobody realized they were supposed to take candy until the DJ announced it repeatedly and then most people still did not take any. I ate a reese cup during the reception but did not take any home. Basically I think it depends on yoru crowd but they are a trend if you like it go for it.
  • Instead of during a candy "buffet", i'm doing the candy for centerpieces. We're going to have two-three different candies at each table with take out boxes in the middle. I am also putting a note on the table that there are different candies on each table. HTH!!

  • We had one and it's was a huge hit.  People are still talking about it a year+ later.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • I am doing one and it is taking the place of my favors! I'm so excited for it!

  • When we were going to go the candy/popcorn buffet route, we were going to make them the centerpieces as well.  The buffets usually aren't very budget-friendly, but not having to get additional centerpieces usually balances that out.
