France/Italy?

So, my uncle is giving us a one week stay as a gift (very nice).  We were thinking of going to France and visiting Italy, as well (we may have to add to our stay).  Any recommendations of places in Paris to stay so that we won't be too far from the touristic area? Any info would be helpful.

    I'm not sure what your budget is like so I won't give specifics, but I will suggest that you pull up a map of the Paris arrondissements and find a hotel in one of these to be close to the touristy stuff: the 1st, 6th, or 7th.  The 4th or 5th might also be fun if you're more into the trendy bars and clubs.  The 8th will also be filled with tourists, but I think there's less to do there outside of the Champs Elysees, which isn't much to see anymore anyway.

    OOh I love France :) I saw all the touristy stuff but its not like the worlds largest ball of yarn like here in the usa lol... I loved everything about Paris and I can't remember off of the top of my head where I stayed and such so I just recommend taking the river boat tour of the city very nice and romantic. GL

    I've stayed in the Montemarte area twice and I loved it! You can go sit on the steps at Sacre Coure and it is very romantic!

    Hey!  We're going to Paris in November for our honeymoon.  We're staying in this really quirky and really modern cool hotel.  It's called Sublim Eiffel Hotel.  It's right across the street from the metro and some of the rooms (the higher up ones) have views of the eiffel tower.  It's within walking distance.  I would recommend checking it out!  www.sublimeiffel.com

    I just got back from my European honeymoon.  In Paris we stayed at "Andrea Rivoli" its a nice, newly remodeled hotel and very within our budget! I think for three nights it was just under $300.  Check Oribitz...they might have a special.  Its really close to the Louvre and a lot of shopping! :)  Have fun!!

    Oh, and another thought... look into hostels, not just hotels. I've stayed in some very nice 2 person private ensuite hostels. They tend to be pretty affordable as well.

    Hi, I'm from Europe (Germany) and having been to both France and Italy, I would definitely recommend going to Italy and then maybe also visiting France.  I have been to both France and Italy several times, and I love Italy(!!),yet did not like Paris too much. Rome though is simply AMAZING! So much history, so much culture, so many sights to see...as for the places,I'd really also recommend to check out hostels. They are a really high standard and have nice private rooms.

    The only thing I didnt like about Italy is that they charge you for EVERYTHING! (bread at the table, eating inside vs. outside, eating at a bar vs. a table, ketsup etc).  This is the only Country that does this.  But its a beautiful country to see. We loved Paris when we visited :)
