Re: are you awake and

  • Oh dear, formatting issues. Apparently apostrophes aren't allowed in polls, my mistake.

  • Aside from the top two danieliza, I'm the only poster with my picture on the 'recently active'. This is somewhat distrubing, and I'd feel really sad about my life if it weren't for the fact that I'm on a completely different timezone to the rest of you.
  • HA, I'm here/ Just ran out and got dinner.  Yummy Butter Chicken and Chicken Tikka!

  • Oh gosh, I am so jealous. I was craving Indian today. There's a big myer sale for members on tonight, and we have the card and got the invite and were debating going- I rather wanted to if only for the opportunity of picking up indian on my way home! But in the end, I was too lazy- and now we suffer! ;P

    How are you, dear?

  • Doing OK.  Getting ready to color my hair tonight and work on packing.  Wohoo, such an exciting life I lead.

I would rather be shopping at Myer.

    How are you doing?

  • Yeah, not too bad. Nick is in the kitchen cooking us dinner so I am just killing time. Somewhat freaked myself out when I noticed that glands in my armpit are swollen (same side as the breast biopsy I had earlier this year) so now I'm trying to refrain from googling and convincing myself it's clearly nothing and unrelated given that the results were ok! So, apart from being a hypochondriac, I'm just fine! ;P I'm looking forward to thanksgiving this weekend! Are you doing anything for thanksgiving?

And yeah, Myer has a huge sale for all of their myer one members. I should have just gone! We still have vouchers for there from our wedding, too. I guess we'll go to the post-christmas sales.

I am also fighting the urge to pull out the christmas tree. Tell me that with kittens that is probably a bad idea! haha. Will you be christmas decorating when you get to France?

  • Ohhh, Nick just announced that he thinks he's ruined the dinner he's making, and I was secretly excited and have my fingers crossed he's right.
  • Oh dear.

I don't knoiw what to tell you about the glands.  I do know that every once in awhile during that time of the month, i have a gland that swells.  And then goes away for a few more months.  It started happening when I was on crutches for 6 months, and it mainly happens after I've done heavy physical upper body labour.

Kitties and trees.  I had two and never had a problem.  I just learned to never put the shiny refelctive balls at the bottom.  If it turns to a problem, just screw a tiny ring hook into the wall and tie the tree to it.  I suggest fishin line so you wont see it.

I'm not sure what we're going to do for Christmas over there.  I think H volunteered to "work" christmas day so everyone else could go home for the holidays, so we may just be spending it on the boat.  I was not happy with this until I realized that I was complaining about spending Christmas on yacht in the Med.  Yeah.

Ugh, I ate too much.  And I certainly shouldn't have had the Diet Coke with it, or the Naan Bread.  I am so going to pay for this later.

  • What was Nick ruining?

  • Wait, wait! I"ve caught "the Australians," yes? Sorry, it's just...

I have been scouring the internet for days, trying to get the best airfare from somewhere in NY or Newark, NJ to Brisbane in March & I can't find anything for less than $1400 with taxes, etc. I've  never seen a fare lower than that even when I looked 3 years ago.

I'm trying desperately to get to my friend's wedding in March. Any suggestions??

Oh, and I WAS just entirely rude interjecting myself into the conversation; I apologize. I'm still hoping you may have some advice for me!

  • Interject away and Good Morning to you.

Advice on the airfare, Jump on the 1400 Immediately!  The lowest I ever got from DC was $2400.  My last flight here was a three day sale and that was $1100 from LA.

I know they run specials but that is in between the seasons in Oct.  That is when the $895 airfare kicks in.

Sun, Have you seen anything better?

  • TheSun, did you know there was a Knot Australia? When I logged out and came back in, it took me directly to that home page.  I mean sure, in the months AFTER I planned from across the world, they start an Aussie version.

  • JayTee, the other suggestion I have is price out the flight from LA and then see what kind of deals you can get on a seperate Domestic flight to LA.  Once you do that you can look into leaving from Philadelphia too.

  • I'll have to tell my friend to look at the Aussie Knot; I didn't know they'd made one!

Jump on the $1400, then? I just keep wishing there was some secret place that would offer me, say, $1000 round-trip.

I think the chances of that are the same as finding said "magic ticket" under a rock.

  • I'm here. I have just finished eating too much ice cream which is bad for two reasons. Its bad for me and I'm lactose intolerant. Opps
  • Ok so many posts- sorry, I disappeared to eat dinner. Nick made a cous cous and roast pumpkin salad with mint, lemon and a snow peas that was actually really fantastic and I was glad it worked out!

We flew V Australia from Brisbane to LA direct. It was a cheap flight compared to everything else, but we still had to pay for connects in the US (we just booked those through whatever we found was the cheapest option). I do recommend V though as their planes are new and they were great to fly with.

Where in Brisbane is the wedding? I live in Brisbane.

And yes indeed, I did know as they emailed me about it- I'm not even sure how as when I signed up I recall not being able to specify what country I was from!

And hmm, Nomad used to always attempt to climb the tree and pull it on himself- Bless his gorgeous little heart. He finally grew out of that last year, and then he passed and now we've got the two little boys who no doubt will be equally curious!

  •  Ah, yes, domestic flights! I believe when my friends came here they found it cheaper, once in the States, to hop from LA to NYC. Good idea, thank you!

  • Even I know a Lactose Intolerant person should stay away from ice cream.

  • I know it too, but soy ice cream just doesn't do it for me.
