I think I'm allergic to my engagement ring! HELP!

OMG! I was on my way to work today and noticed my finger felt itchy under my ring, I took it off and there's a red ring around my finger that matches my e-ring and it's dry, cracked and itchy! I've had my ring for 6 months an never had any issue like this! It's 14K White Gold (which I know isn't the best but I've had the thing for 6 months!) Does anyone have any ideas of something I can put on my skin or thoughts of what may have caused this? TIA

make sure you are completely drying your finger underneath the ring after washing your hands.  i'm not a doctor, but dishydrotic eczema can often happen from trapped moisture.  try not wearing the ring for a few days and using an OTC hydrocortisone cream until it goes away, or see a doc.

I agree it sounds like it's not allergies.  You shouldn't wear your ring in the shower anyway since the soap gunk builds up around the prongs and on the diamond.  Try taking it off every night while you sleep and during showers plus some cortisone. My only other thought is that if you are allergic to gold maybe it just started to happen now that the rhodium plate (what makes it look silver) is wearing thin.  That usually happens about every 6 to 12 months.  Good luck!

I don't ever wear it in the shower, but I will def try taking it off at bedtime and the cream. I don't think it's the rohdium wearing thin though, it was just out for repair and I got it back Friday, it had a rohdium dip while it was out. I hope hope hope it's just irritation! Thanks ladies!

one of my friends developed an allergy to her white gold ring too! it isn't impossible... I would say make sure your finger stays dry, clean and moisturized underneath and if that doesn't help you may have an allergy...

I don't know what you do for a living, but I'm in healthcare and it happens from time to time when I have to wash and wash and wash.  PP are all right...cortisone and make sure it stays dry.  Don't wear it for a few days.  Be sure and clean your ring as well just in case you may have gotten something (house cleaner, soap) that may be irritating your skin the area on the ring itself.
