help Cannon Beach

we where planning on  having our ceremony on the beach. just found out that theres no way legaly we can do that.
so
Do we have the whole thing in the Chamber of Commers Hall (where the reception was going to be and our back up its pouring venue) or ????
Is there a garden or something over looking the water we would be able to have a nice ceramony?
Would it be weird to go to a wedding on the coast and then have the whole event not near the water?
Should we just do photos on the beach and call it good?
help its under 100 people but over 50
thanks

I have no idea what you are talking about.  I got married on Cannon Beach in 2007 and it's all legal.  You will need to get a beach use permit to hold an event like that on the beach, but we went through SurfSand Resort and they have two beach accesses you can use through them.

I know that you can get a permit for the beach HOWEVER not for any of the state park beaches Arcadia, hugspoint, area near haystack rock, tulivana (sp) for any time between June and September.
The area infront of surfsand is one of two places that you can get a permit however I cannont due to the location of my reception which leaves
one space the area of the beach by 2nd street  which is where the river comes down and meets the ocean,
We are getting married at high tide (theres just no way around that) so theirs not realy alot of beach that we would be able to set up on/ guest would have to cross the river.
The permit for beach use prohibits use of amplification. There is no way to have 90 people seated on the beach with the waves crashing and a quite minster and have anyone hear anything.
So Yes depending on what time of year you are getting married size of wedding party and low/high tide you can obtain a permit to have the wedding on the beach however its not a viable option for us. Thats why I am looking for another location.

We are getting married at Hug Point, and to avoid the permit issue we are:
    1)having it in Ocotber
    2) not putting anything in the sand
    3) making everyone stand (it'll be a short ceremony)

    Hi,
I tried the Cannon Beach route too. I even booked and paid for the Chamber Hall.  But if you're not set on Cannon Beach...go north.  We are getting married in Gearhart.  Its much easier.

And I don't know if you can use the SurfSands permits without the reception there and it starts at $90 a person.....

Even at high tide, you could get married at north beach (on the north side of ecola creek, next to Les Shirley Park).  See how high the tide actually is on that day, and plan a day trip on another day comparable in the tide chart (for example 7.4 on your wedding day and 7.4 March 20th, go then) to see what the tide actually looks like.  I've seen a lot of chairs set starting in towards the dunes.  Remember the number is the highest the tide goes that setting and will only go down afterwards!  You should be able to create the wedding of your dreams, you deserve it!  The post about Gearhart is good, the beach is very expansive.  As far as parks go, Les Shirley park is a public park (grassy) on the estuary, any others are probably too crowded.  I've helped bartend weddings/ receptions at the Chamber and have seen both parts done there, but it would be my recommendation due to space to either only have reception there, or have your bar and food all stationed on patio under tents.
