how long?

How long should your first dance song be?

I wouldn't think an 8 minute song would be any good, but, really, it is what you want. Talk with your DJ/Band about options. We are using Brian Adams "Everything I Do"

Our song was about 4 minutes and it felt like forever! By the end we had no idea what to do haha. It was fun though. I didn't know that my DJ could have cut it whenever I wanted. DH danced with his mom to a 7 minute song...but when we felt it was getting too long I motioned for the DJ to cut it.

No more than one min. It may seem like forever when everyone is just looking at you. Just dance to the most meaningful part of your song.

I'm thinking anywhere in the 2-3 minute range would be good. It is a long time for people to be staring at you when they are already spending all day looking at you and the Mr.-to-be.  If you do insist on a longer song, make it part of your introduction. Have the dj edit the song to make the first moments instrumental so he/she can introduce the new Mr. & Mrs. Newlyweds and then you 2 can blend right into your first dance. The cameras will already be poised for your entrance. This kills 2 birds with one stone and saves people from getting up to take pictures more than necessary!! Good luck!!
