Same items on different registries?

Hi Ladies-We recently registered at Bed, Bath and Beyond.  We truly found nearly EVERYTHING we could need or want there, and were quite happy with the registry.  Some friends and family suggested that we register at another store, though, to offer variety to the guests.  We originally opened a registry at Macy's, but we were disapointed to learn that everything we found at Macys was at BBB at a substantially lower price :(  It really made the Macys registry pointless, so we decide to scrap it and go to Crate and Barrel.Long story short- is it okay that the C&B registry is pretty skimpy compared to BBB? Or, should we put some items on both registries? I can think of plenty of reasons why I shouldn't put the same things on two registries, but I just feel like C&B is awfully small compared to BBB (I'd say about 30 items at C&B).Thanks ladies!

Re: Same items on different registries?

  • They don't need to be of equal length. If there are only certain things you like more at C&B, don't feel pressured to put more things on there just because. Actually we have a large registry at BB&B and a smaller one (about 27 items, mainly our china and serving pieces) on the C&B registry. I wouldn't put the same items on both registries unless you plan on registry stalking and as soon as someone purchases that item off one, you remove it from the other.
  • People recommended putting some of the same items on both of our registries to "increase our odds" of getting them, but then we ended up getting multiples of things at our showers and it was awkward because I'm the type of person who hates taking gifts back and exchanging or whatever. I subsequently went home and deleted all other multiples we had so that the same thing wouldn't happen for our wedding gifts. So no, I think it is fine that your registries are lop-sided. Ours were uneven as well and I didn't worry about it. HTH, GL.
  • I've been wondering about this as well!  When I went to register at BB&B I was TOLD to put the stuff from the Macy's registry on this one.    Then when I went back to Macy's to fix some stuff, because I realized that some stuff just didn't make sense (I love that little planning book BB&B gives you!), the lady at Macy's inquired if I had gone to register somewhere else.  I told her yes and it was BB&B.  She also TOLD me to add whatever was from BB&B to the Macy's list.  So, I did it for the plates, silverware, etc.  Not for kitchen electrics.  I hope its not rude, but I was advised twice!
