Getting in Shape

Wii Fit

We just got one today.  I am so excited!  I am not really planning on using it to lose weight (I have a feeling it won't be that intense, and I am mostly just trying to maintain my weight right now anyway), but I was getting really bored with just my regular workout routine of running and the occasional video.  Anyway, I thought this might help break it up, and I am hoping I can get DH into it too...So, anyone else have one and have any recommendations of things I should try on it?

Re: Wii Fit

  • Try the different games!  They are really fun and some of them actually get your heart rate going!  I love the hula hoop.  The wii fit also has you weigh in and it keeps track of your fluctuations.  I love it.  I don't think it has really halped in the weight loss departmant but it does help to use it when you still want to get some type of exercise but are tired of the same old routine.
  • I do wii fit yoga and strength training. it is more intense than you think! (especially if you don't already do yoga)

  • So, I tried it...mostly the aerobics section, which wasn't much.  I think I am going to stick to running for cardio but play with the yoga and strength parts more...I may try that out later this afternoon. On the bright side, I just took the dog for a 3 mile run :)

  • If I do a full workout (yoga, aerobics, and strength) it actually feels like a real workout. I typically do this on the days I don't really want to "work out" and it feels more like fun. The balance games are fun too. Plus the fact that you can check your weight whenever you want, but don't feel obligated to, is a good motivator for me.
  • I got the Wii Active and LOVE LOVE LOVE it...it doesnt need the wii fit board and it is an intense cardio and strength workout...plus fun!
  • I agree the EA active for the Wii is GREAT. I like it with the balance board... the bunching turns into kickboxing so it's great.  and after that 30 min session you are sweating and you feel like you have actually worked out.   I have the fit, the personal trainer, and tried out the jillian michaels one.  The Active is my favourite out of all of them!
