First Dance Poll

What song are you using for your first dance? Are you taking dancing lessons? If not, do you  have any special ways you're going to dance to the song? I know some people have choreographed their first dance! Are you doing the first dance right before dinner, right after or some other time during the ceremony?

I have no idea what song we're going to use... I love "Crazy Love" (the original is by Van Morrison I believe, and Michael Buble just put out an awesome version on his new CD, but we're like 90% sure we're having a band)... I'm just worried like a million people will be using that song.  So who knows. We are DEFINITELY taking lessons because FI sucks and dancing and it will make him more comfortable.  We're going to do the dance right before dinner as of right now, like right when we're introduced.

We used Love You Till the End - The PoguesWe did not take dance lessons - we danced normally for about the first half the song, then we realized we still had two minutes to go so we just started having fun with it and dancing silly. We did it immediately after the introductions at the reception

Our first dance was to "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz.  We didn't take lessons or practiced beforehand.  I had thought about it but we never got around to it...and everything worked out fine. We did our dance right after the intros.

"Life Less Ordinary" by Carbonleaf We took lessons with Michelle from Studio DNA.  $50/hour lesson.  I though it was fun and we always wanted to take dance lessons.  (We forgot about half the steps when we actually danced, but we had a good time).  First dance right after introductions.

"Come What May" from Moulin RougeNo lessons or practicing - just swaying.  Neither of us has any rhythm to speak of.We did the dance right after dinner.  We had a Friday evening wedding and by the time the ceremony was over, I knew people would be hungry.  I didn't want to delay the food even longer by launching into the first dance after intros, so we waited.

I love you for sentimental reasons - Nat King Cole (but played by the band...)We took lessons, but not for anything fancy.  We just learned the rumba so we didn't sway back and forth the whole time and we threw a couple of spins in there. We did the 1st dance as soon as we entered the reception (so before dinner).

I have no idea what song we're using... T is in charge of music and hehas some elaborate plot to share it with me, but it's "not ready yet" and he's been saying that for MONTHS. Hee.We're not taking dance lessons, but we also will probably fade the song after a minutes & a half or so. We're dancing right after introductions, but we're not doing introductions until about an hour or so into our reception... we're letting people mingle and eat for a while before we have to herd them back into the ballroom (it's a stations reception, so no assigned seating).

no clue what song yet, but I definitely want to do a Waltz, it's my favorite dance. As far as lessons, we love to dance and were already taking lessons, so yeah we will probably do a few that focus just on this dance. If you aren't really into dancing then I don't see why you have to do anything fancy for the first dance and therefore wouldn't take lessons. We will probably do the dance right when we enter the reception.
