Has anyone ever done a natural face scrub or mask?

I've seen a few on pinterest and I'm kinda interested. I'm talking about the face scrubs with natural ingredients like brown sugar, oatmeal, olive oil etc. I'd like to test some out. Anyone have any experience with these? Any faves?

Re: Has anyone ever done a natural face scrub or mask?

  • I don't have any personal experience making my own scrubs or masks, but a woman my mom works with makes her own scrubs and lotions.  According to my mom, her skin is gorgeous.  My advice would be not to try anything new too close to the wedding in case you have an unexpected reaction to something! I see you have a little over a month to go, so I think you would be fine trying something in the next week :) Hope this was helpful! lol

I never tried VS body lotions & shower gels before...yeah...i can't use them because i broke out in hives...I had to go to the dr. to get an Rx to help them go away...we were going to FL for spring break...I still had them a little bit before we left...
  • I have no experience with this either...I just decided to try out the castor oil face wash and want to make an exfoliator to try too this next week.  Totally off topic but Nati we have the same cake in our signatures and I never noticed until just now.  I LOVE that cake!

Yeah, nothing too close to the wedding. I'd like to try one this week.

LM, how long did that last! That sounds awful!! :(

Aj I think I saw it in your sig just yesterday but didn't have time to mention anything about it. It's a gorgeous cake!! :) Let me know how that castor oil face wash and the scrub you decide to try out goes! I'm really curious and I don't have anything left in my budget for facials or new products haha. Definitely time to head to the kitchen! I found this site yesterday that seemed really cool, it has a few recipes but what I liked most was that it explains what each ingredient does for your skin. I'm thinking so that you can mix your own recipes later on too...

  • Oooh...I want to try the oatmeal and honey or olive oil and sugar scrubs.  I am going to make one tomorrow and try it out!  Thanks for sharing these.  I'll post my reviews!

  • I do a brown sugar/honey/olive oil scrub every 4-5 weeks. It's not a set schedule or anything, that just happens to be the time-frame where I think about it again, haha.

I really love it! My face is always pretty red afterwards but I do it at night and then in the morning my face looks great and is so soft and smooth. It's nice because the brown sugar gets rid of dullness and flakiness and then the olive oil makes your skin super soft and moisturized so it's a nice combo.

  • It lasted for a good 3 weeks before they started to disappear!!  but that is VS products...

I would try the brown sugar one Meagan talked about...it sounds good to me!! Try it now to see if it works...I think I might =)

That's exactly the one I want to try Meagan! I also read that it's best to do it at night for other reasons, but it's good to know your skin could get a little red. Thanks for the tip! I'll see if I try it tonight! :

For dry skin, I love sugar scrubs with olive oil because they are so moisturizing... but if your skin is naturally oily it could make your face break out. Oatmeal and honey are both great for many skin types. The type of scrub that will work best for you will really depend on your skin type.
