DO NOT USE FABULOUS FARE FOR YOUR CAKES!!!

We used Fabulous Fare out of College Station for our wedding cakes and lets just say.. the cakes tasted good.. but thats about it.  The grooms cake was messy and you couldnt even figure out what it was.. The brides cake was a total disaster.  It was supposed to look like baskets of apples stacked on top of eachother.. Our theme involved apples..    She charged me for sugared apples and hand painted details.. and then basically made a cake that was ivory tiers with a brown stripe in the middle (that drooped in alot of places).. and in between the tiers she shoved real apples.. and messed upthe icing.. didn't even attempt to fix her mistakes. it was HORRIBLE.  We ended up taking all the apples out and putting flowers in ourselves to cover up how bad it looked..   We saved the brides cake in the end.. but that doesnt save me from spreading the word to never use this woman.I have before and after pictures.. Also - throughout the planning process it was very difficult to communicate with her.. My reccommendation?   DONT USE HER.

I've heard mixed reviews (more positive than negative though) for Fabulous Fare around B/CS. One bride, a friend of mine, gave a positive review, but you can see her wedding cake to know that the cake really wasn't great looking at all (I love this chick to death, but she has low standards). here, you can see the strawberries running, the middle tier bulging and the top tier doesn't look very level.http://photos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-sf2p/v336/224/34/8320688/n8320688_49127722_7624.jpgif I go with a "wedding baker" then I'll probably go with Cinderella Stories, but honestly, the simplicity of the cake that I want is leading me towards going to the grocery store bakeries (3 tiers of a not complicated flavor, white buttercream icing, a ribbon around the bottom of each tier with a topper that I provide--simple).

  • UPDATE: Any bride who has seen this forum and hesistates on Fabulous Fare because of this post, consider this:

    1. This post is from 2009!!! it has been 4 years since the bad experiences in this post

    2. When I was planning my own wedding here in College Station, this thread made me hesistate about Fabulous Fare. I had given her a call earlier and she didn't pick up at that time and I saw it as  a "sign" because "Thank God I saw this post before I talked to her". But she called back adn we talked and she was VERY WILLING  to do what ALL other bakers in town (including Cinderella's Stories) had refused to do: A tres Leches cake with fondant on it.

    3. I loved the cake, the taste was AMAZING, and tres leches with fondant is a very hard cake to make. She also gave me FREE rose cupcakes because I had mentioned i loved them in our conversation. So, please don't be misguided by this thread. I am a 2013 bride and I loved Fabulous Fare. I am coming back for my next cake need!
