Please help!

Hi everyone!I'm planning a wedding for next October/November over near Port Orange, FL.  It's going to be a beach ceremony and then a indoor/outdoor reception.  I've been engaged since January and have been slowly getting everything together.  I had planned on October 23rd but hadn't officially set the date, 2 weeks ago I found out some friends of ours are planning on October 23rd also! I'm not so worried about us sharing a date except for two of my fiance's good friends would have to choose between the two. So now I'm trying to figure out another date.  I can't do October 16th (Bikeweek), not a big fan of October 30th (so close to the day that celebrates death), and I think November 6th may be slightly too cold.  I was wondering if anyone has any advice for me on 2 subjects:1. The other couple has not "officially" set their date and I'm ready to put down a deposit right now for October 23.  So how I mention that to them without coming off too harsh but letting them know I've wanted that date and it was kinda crappy they picked a date and didn't even ask about ours.2. Advice on which day seems to work best (weather wise, holiday, ect)Thanks everyone I really appreciate your help!

You can say something like "hey i heard you guys are getting married! Have you guys already chosen a date? Me and FI are getting married on the 23rd of October! It's really up to you. FLorida's weather is never the same. What about October 9th?

Ditto to pp... and... I've wanted that date and it was kinda crappy they picked a date and didn't even ask about ours.... IMO its not crappy at all... did you ask them about their date when you picked out that date?  I am guessing not or you wouldn't be in this predicament.

woah u sound just like me! I live in PO and i am getting married this oct 30th, just a few days away! my venue was booked and i had problems with finding a caterer because oct. is a pretty popular month. Plus, bike week! Let me just say that I got great deals because I am having a friday wedding. I got discounts and I also got a free chocolate fountain with my caterer. Its awesome! Also, i have had no problems at all with people not being able to attend. The wedding starts at 5:30. I would like to recommend wilbur boathouse if u r thinking of having a beach ceremony. The boathouse is in ponce inlet lakeside. U could have the beach ceremony and just drive a mile down the street and go to the boathouse! They have a huge deck where u can set up a tent or something. My friends had a beach wedding and their reception was afterwards. I took photos for her and they came out amazing!! Congrats and dont stress on the date! Friday is really not that bad :)

We are just over one week from Nov 6 and it is supposed to be 90 out today.  Nov 6 could be cool or hot.  "Usually" not cold but we did get a cool snap a couple of weeks ago where it goe down into the (gasp) 50's here at night.  Weather in FL tends to always be a bit of a crapshoot.  Ditto pp on what to say to them.

Thank you everyone for your advise.  We've finally set a date: November 6, 2010!  We decided it was better to just stay away from conflict with dates and go with the best date :)
