Thanks Mrs. Vogt!FI did great - a little shy of making the team, but we knew that was going to be a long shot, especially with the injuries he's had this fall. He was really happy with his times and got a bunch of personal bests, and I was so proud to watch him skate with all of the other elite skaters. I thought we'd come away from the weekend with a clear idea of who's going to be on the team, but that hasn't happened exactly, since US Speedskating is a mess as always. I can definitely tell you that gold medal winners from the last Olympics Shani Davis and Chad Hedrick will be going again. Not sure about some of the younger skaters who are our friends. We'll have another round of trials coming up in Salt Lake City starting the day after Christmas. Looking forward to those too
Speedskating has definitely been a fun addition to my life. Someday FI and I will be able to afford to go to the Olympics (hopefully) but in the meantime, going to events for this sport has been really great, and I'm really looking forward to seeing people I know on TV.
Sarah, I was a volunteer with the 1996 Atlanta games, and it was truly an awesome experience. My ex-husband has actually worked 3 Games so far (Atlanta, Sydney, and Athens), and missed going to the Beijing Games by 4 spots (he's a wrestling official). It is definitely a fantastic experience.
BeachBride: Nah, I've only got enough room in my heart for the Phillies right now. I may pay some attention to the Eagles after the World Series is over. Thanks cacoffer!
ah ha gotcha.....well eventhough you don't have love for the Eagles, I still like ya for loving the Phillies : ) I am so ready for the Series....it will be so sweet to beat the Yankees.
oh my gosh, sarah, I saw that photo on another post, skimmed right past it, not realizing it was you! I was so used to the other one!! That is a great photo - I'm glad you had a good time - sorry he didn't make it, but glad he was personally happy - sometimes that's what is more important )Good to see you back!
Do not mess in the affairs of dinosaurs because you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.
I love you Missy. Even though you are not smart enough to take online quizzes to find out really important information. ~cew
My aunt lives in Salt Lake and she worked the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympics. My uncle helped out with skiing events since he was a ski instructor for about 40 years. I'd love to go to the Olympics in person some day! I have a friend who went to the Atlanta games and I was jealous. My eyes were glued to women's gymnastics that entire time!Good luck with the next round of trials! How fun!
