Which cake bakers did you decide to meet with? I'm trying to get those meetings set up for the next time we go to Surf City/Wilmington/Jacksonville. So far I only have found 3 bakers. Thanks!

I found that looking for bakers in Jacksonville is cheaper then in Wilmington.- The first person, and the one recommended by our caterer, is Kathy Canby.  Her website is http://www.kathycanbycakes.com/.- Kim Arico: http://www.kandscakes.com- Taylor of Sweet T's (she is probably a little more expensive, but the stuff she does is amazing! So we are meeting with her anyway): http://www.taylorssweetart.com/- Nicki MacRae: http://nickiscakes.com/We are also considering visiting JustBaked bakery.Hope this helps!  I'm meeting with them all on November 16th.  I'll let you know how it goes.

I've heard good things about Kathy. I'm excited to meet with her. We are doing some kind of beach themed cake. I don't want any white on my cake. I want it to be colorful and fun. Our wedding theme is tropical/ beach. So it isn't going to be blue with sea shells beachy if you know what I mean. I think we are leaning towards a smaller cake and cupcakes. Based on the pricing I have seen, that is cheaper. Not to mention it's different and fun. We were kicking around the idea of having a small two tier cake. The sides of the bottom tier will be the waves. The top of that tier with have "sand" and maybe 2 pairs of little flip flops. The sides of the top tier will be a colorful sunset with palm trees going up the side. Haven't decided what I want on the top yet, if anything. The cupcakes would be different colors to match the sunset with sea turtles and/or hawaiian flower candies on top.

sounds like it will be a really pretty and fun cake! we're trying to decide if we want a beachy cake or just a simple one. we haven't really decided if we want to do a beachy theme or just center around a certain color.

I've been doing a lot of googling: beach wedding cakes, tropical, hawaiian. That's given me a lot of ideas. You can do some pretty things when you work around one color. We might to that too, it just won't be white :) But that's just me and I'm weird.
