Hi Knotties, Our first year anniversary just rolled around this past weekend and we attempted the tradition of eating our cake topper. There is no way to sugar coat this but it was awful! I wanted to give you ladies a heads up to make sure whomever is packaging up your cake removes any flowers from the cake topper. Our florist decorated our cake with a few fresh flowers per our request but I guess the genius in the banquets division of the hotel didn't think to take them off prior to wrapping up the cake. Well, cake in a box wrapped heavily in suran wrap with decomposing flowers in the freezer doesn't smell too good when you unveil it after a year. We were so disappointed. We tried to salvage the cake by cutting off the top layer and eating a bite of the rest but the smell made us want to hurl so we threw it all away. We had taken the cake with us to a restaurant where we were having dinner and the waitress was nice enough to bring us a cake knife and server when she knew we were celebrating our anniversary. oh well.... we tried! Thankfully we have fond memories of our delicious cake from our wedding day ! Hopefully many of you will have better luck with your cakes!
