Help!! Negotiating hotel deposit

Hi,We're getting married in Hawaii on July 2, 2011. we've already picked the hotel we want, but they want a $2500 deposit right off. Has anyone been able to negotiate down the deposit or been able to come up with something more reasonable for a date that's still two years off? What would be the best way to go about this? I'm a horrible negotiator and could really use some guidance on this. Thanks!!!

    My only suggestion is to consider what percentage of your total cost is the deposit? My deposit worked out to be about 10% now, with about 9 months to go. You could ask them if you could put say 10% down now... and work out a payment plan where you don't pay so much so far in advanced. I have a friend who is getting married in July of 2011 and she was trying to reserve a limo bus and they wanted a 50% deposit... kinda crazy if you ask me!
