I tipped coordinator and Hair/Makeup 20%.... the other 2 i didnt tip. We struggled with parents gifts too.  We just got them each a wedding album (which they havent gotten yet!)

We tipped Hair & Makeup, DJ, Steel Drum - all 20%.I tipped my DOC alot because she was very inexpensive and I thought she was great! We tipped the caterer an extra 10% because they already have 9% included in their charges.

I'm so confused about tipping! Are you supposed to tip the wedding coordinator if you are using the one provided by the hotel/resort you are having your wedding at? And you are supposed to tip your photographer as well?  I'm terrible in these situations!

Parents Gifts: we had 2 different engagement pictures redone on canvas with oil and had them framed. As for tipping, I'm planning on tipping the hair stylist, DJ and that's it. We don't have a coordinator and the coordinator that comes with our hotel doesn't get one (at least I don't think so).

If the Photgrapher or videographer, etc is the business owner, it is not customary to tip. As far as hair/makeup, I say 20% regardless The vendor coordinator usually is included in the "service charge" *18% or something* portion of your contract. But maybe a little gift, like a spa gift cert. or something...

nillachick:   I really like your idea of giving a gift card for spa treatment or something. I wasn't sure what the protocol was for the hotel's coordinator but that's a great solution!

I'll probably get my planner a spa certificate or a gift card for some restaurant. As for parent gifts, I am making a photo book (from shutterfly or something) of pictures of me from the time I was very young up until shortly before the wedding for each of my parents (divorced). I'm also going to put a special note in it, that they will also get books from the wedding, after the fact.

Hey! What are some ideas for gifts for parents? what kinds of things are you doing? We had two very pretty picture frames engraved at Things to Remember and then we gave them gift cards to Charlies Steakhouse.  They seemed to like it.  I also paid for my mom to have a mani the day before the wedding with me. Also, how much would you tip the vendor coordinator? Since she was the owner, I didnt really "tip" her but I did give her a $50 visa giftcard and a thank you notePhotographer? I think we tipped $100Videographer? (same as photographer)Hairdresser/makeup? $100 - she was the owner as well, but she did like 8 girls and was on her feet all day

I'm giving the mom's a special vase with flowers that we will use as centerpieces for their tables as well.  For the dad's we will do a gift around their hobbies.  We will also be giving our parents a photo of us from our wedding day once those pics come in later.Tip the hairdresser and makeup artist no less than 18-20%.  If the photographer and videographer are self employed or the owners then no extra tip is necessary but a nice thank you card and gift or momento might be nice.  If the vendor coordinator is an employee of the reception location check the contract because tip may already be included.  If not, you can tip if their service is outstanding or provide a small gift and thank you card.

What about if the photographer is the owner but they bring a second shooter?  Do you tip the second shoooter and not the owner?
