How Old is Too Old?

My FI suggested that we have my twin nephews serve as our ringbearers. By the time the wedding date comes arounf they will 8 1/2. Is that two old to be ringbearers? Has anyone else had a ringbearer that old?

    I don't think age is really an issue.  Just make sure that the two of them feel comfortable being titled "Ring Bearer".  If they feel like that is too childish for them, you could maybe use "Ring Security".  I say do what makes you happy and the boys comfortable!

    I agree. My brother was a ring bearer when he was about 10 or 11. He liked the tux. I wouldn't force it on a fifthgrader, though.

    Ask the 8.5 year olds if they want to be ring bearers.  If they say they are too old, then they are too old.

    Yup. My son was a ring bearer when he was 9 and had no problems with it. Never hurts to ask!

    I am having my fiance's 2 nephews as our ring bearers.  One is 3 and the other is 11.  They are brothers.  The 11 year old is so excited and he is also assisting in getting his 3 year old brother down the aisle as well.  It's YOUR wedding....do what you want! Wink

    Mine was 12 and was super excited to be a part of his uncle (and now aunt's special day). He didnt carry a ring on a cheesy pillow but simply walked down with the flower girl (his sister) on his arm. She was 9 and he was 12 and both loved it. I actually think the older the better.

    I don't think age has anything to do with it. you can give them an option of Ring Bearers or Ushers.
