Follow-up on Prayer Request

I posted on here about a month or 2 ago that my grandfather had had a massive stroke and it wasn't looking good. Thankfully he's stablized, but he'll never be able to return home since he'd have to climb the stairs to use the shower and is still paralyzed for the most part on his left side. My dad is taking my grandmother to the lawyer's office tomorrow to try and make further arrangements which is going to be really hard on her. She's adjusting well to not having him at home and has become more self sufficient, but it's really tough on her not to have her husband of over 62 years around the house anymore. So continued prayers for my grandfather's recovery are much appreciated.

Also, my brother graduated from the marines last week (so proud!) and one of his platoon "brothers" from basic training went back to a special training and lost his leg in an explosion during an exercise. I just feel so awful, the poor kid just finished basic training and he's already disabled. My brother is really upset and taking it really hard. My mom said he used to go to church on Sundays with him and their bunks were close to each other in the barracks so they were pretty close. Prayers for his friend and everyone who cares about him would also be much appreciated.

And finally... my poor mom who has a ton of health problems that I won't bore you with the details right now ended up in the ER on Saturday night after attending a few picnics and thought she had food poisoning. They gave her IV fluids and nausea meds to re-hydrate her and help her stop throwing up. Well she went home Sunday afternoon and was doing better and took Monday off from work to continue to rest and this morning on her way to work she started to feel light headed and nauseous again. Thankfully, she's a nurse at the hospital she was admitted to over the weekend and the doctor she works for told her to go back to the ER to get more fluids. They admitted her and said it was definitely a bacterial infection so they're giving her more IV fluids and antibiotics to hopefully banish the bad bacteria from her system. Prayers for her comfort and quick recovery would be great! She's been through enough over the years and I hate to see her suffering.

    Thanks for the updates!
I will be praying for your grandmother and grandfather as they both adjust to this new stage of life for them. I hope all things go well at the lawyers office tomorrow

My heart broke even more as I read about your brother's friend. My brother is in the Army and I know how close they get with their guys in their group. I will pray for his family as well as your brother.

I hope your mom feels better soon!!

I will also be lifting you up in prayer as well!! This is a lot to have to sit back and watch. Praying for peace of mind and calmness.

Thanks for the updates, summerkutie!  It's nice to hear updates.  I'll keep praying for the situations you mentioned.  My dad is retired Army so that story definitely hits home with me.  So tough to deal with unexpected or tragic disabilities with close friends or "brothers" as they call themselves.  My FI's best man is in the Air Force and thankfully he JUST went in last year so he's still in training but we do pray for him constantly.

Wow, all this happening at once...I'm sorry.

I'm glad your grandpa is doing better, but I'll be praying for your grandma. I couldn't imagine being in her position and I can't even begin to feel what she's feeling.

And I'll be praying for your brother. So glad it wasn't more than his leg. He is lucky in that sense, but now his life is totally different. Broke my heart to read that.

Your poor mom! I'll be praying for a speedy recovery for her.

Hope you're doing well through all this!

    Thanks everyone! :0)

I just talked to my brother and he said they're going to try to sew his leg back on, but he's most likely finished with the marines. I can't imagine how tough that would be.

That's a lot to be dealing with right now.  When my Grandpa died, my Grandma & he had been married for 70 years so I've seen how difficult it is to be separated after a long time together.  But hopefully they will find a solution that means they don't have to be separated.  Will definitely pray for both of them and your dad.  Also will be praying for your brother's friend and all the guys/girls that are close to him.  And your mom - it's good that she is getting good care but praying for a speedy recovery!!
