Ladies...I need your help please!

So...when I began my wedding planning, I wanted a wedding that was no fuss and just a fun day for everyone. That being said, we found a venue and hope to have both the ceremony and reception outside. We wanted to have food that everyone would love and that's not the usually fish, chix, prime rib, so we are having a well-know BBQ place cater. We are getting real utensils, setting the picnic tables nicely with linens, burlap runners, etc. I guess you can say I'm going for a rustic look overall. Anyway, I had originally been looking for a taffeta or chiffon, light, airy, flowy dress. Flower in the hair, no veil. Well when I went to actually try them on, I found that overall, that style did nothing for me, just sort of "hung" on my body. I ended up trying on a a full lace and bead, trumpet style dress with a chapel train, in ivory. Not at all what I expected, but it fit me like a glove and really made me feel like a bride! Now, I'm having second thoughts because it doesn't really "fit" the outdoorsy, relaxed theme. The lace makes it great for a garden/outdoor wedding, but is it just too much for the day? My husband to be is wearing a khaki suit with a tie, I was hoping attendants would show up in sun dresses and khakis and dress shirts for the guys (ideally). • I think that dress would be fine.  One or two girls from my local wore that dress, and it's really pretty but definitely not overly formal so I think it would work :).  It's not like it's a big poofy ballgown lol.

  • I don't think the dress is too much. It's really pretty, and seems like a simple enough design to be able to fit your theme. I think depending on how you do your hair, you will definitely be able to make it work.
  • Don't change anything. The way you described your dress had me worried that it wouldn't match your motif, but upon looking at the dress, I found it to be 1 - beautiful and 2 - completely appropriate for your setting. just keep your hairdo and makeup simple. same with shoes and accessories.
  • I am having the same sort of wedding as you and I think that the dress you posted would be perfect!!!

  • I love the dress, and its not over the top formal, etc.  That's actually one of the dresses I plan on trying on when I go in, and I'm having an outdoor wedding!  :)
  • Thanks so much for all of your help ladies!  I guess I was just having a bit of buyer's remorse.  I just went in there to try some on and see what kind of dress looked the best on, and it as the first one I tried on...only tried a few more on after it...and then I bought it!  I can be impulsive sometimes, so that worried me!  But you're all right...it's not a ball gown, it's my day, and I should feel like a bride!  Thanks again to all of you!
  • I think this dress will be perfect for an outdoor wedding.  I am sure you will look gorgeous!  BTW I love your dress!
  • I think your dress is great! Plus...is it really possible for the BRIDE to be overdressed?! haha
  • You had me worried with your explanation of the dress, but now seeing it I think it looks beautiful and fits the theme perfectly! If you are still concerned you could have the train shortened a bit to make it a bit less formal.
  • The same thing happen to me. I think your dress is gorgeous and you will look beuatiful at your outdoor wedding! Congrats!
  • I love it as well! Do you think you are doing your hair up or down?I will probably have similar worries as my wedding is outdoors and casual (not even doing jackets on the guys, just khaki pants and button-down shirt, haven't decided on tie yet) but the dress I like after viewing some online is pretty fancy. Have to wait til I try them on tho :-)
  • It's your day and you have the right to feel like a princess bride! Whatever you want to wear, go for it!After that little speech, the dress is absolutely appropriate. I had a friend who used a very similar one for her beach wedding, and it looked great.....Not one bit out of place. You'll be beautiful! Just keep the accessories and hair toned down to a casual look, if it still worries you.
