bedroom color and decor

So, once you move in or have moved in together, how did you redo the bedroom? I love purple and I have a really girly room with lavender and sheer draping over the four poster bed. I'm going to be really sad to see my pretty girly room go goodbye. I'm having a really hard time coming up with designs and colors that suit my girly tastes but won't make him feel emmasculated. What did you do/change?

lol! i know what you mean! my single girl's apt had quilts and girly stuff like white wash furniture, this definitely wasn't his style! we decided to look at places like C&B and west elm that have more gender neutral furnishings. when we moved into our new apt together i chose more classic mahogany decor with simple bedding (it's actually still quilted/pieced, but it's very modern looking). the one room that we have that's more girly is our computer den. i have fashion prints and more eclectic art on the walls in there.

We did our bedroom in a pale grey/blue and white with espresso colored furniture. The bedding is a pale blue...I think grey/blue is a nice compromise because it's still a "masculine" color but still looks soft.

I would just chose a color together for the room together and go from there. Maybe chose some girly things and balance them with more masculine things. Or you can do what I did and make your guest room super girly! We just got done with it last weekend and it is purple and girly it makes me smile!

I lived in the house before FI moved in and my room (for once) was not very girl...so didn't have to worry about that...I did get my girly fix in the guest bedroom and he has his NASCAR stuff in the office which is a little more manly...he also took over the back porch and garage...because I don't go out there anyway...you do have to make compromises but remind him who will be dusting and cleaning most of the decor and he may have more understanding!

I have a pink paisley comforter on our bed right now! Ha;) We really need to start decorating together though! We like the restoration hardware/pottery barn/west elm look.

I am an interior designer and didn't have one problem with working out school projects for four years. THEN I move in with Jacob and he is the most difficult person EVER when it comes to agreeing on decor. Blah. GL! Hope your man is a little more persuasive! Hahaha.

Robert actually doesn't care and I've never (well, since I picked my own stuff out) had a girly room. Our whole condo will have a Tommy Bahama inspired look. Our bedroom has Honey Pine (will have, the furniture arrives tomorrow!) and we're using light blue sheets with a white duvet and white shams. The walls are cream colored (ligh light light beige) and the artwork is very oceany and soothing. I love it. He likes the blue stuff so it works for us. The rest of the condo is very tropical looking, but not flamingo or obnoxious. And the office/2nd room is going to have sports stuff. I'm trying to find cool black and white prints like what you see at Sam Sneads or old baseball prints with Babe Ruth...

our bedroom and master bath are done with greens, browns, and creams. I've never had a very girly room, so I was happy to go with the greens and browns.

Thankfully H has really good taste and I never really decorated tooooo girlie when I was on my own. In the last house we just get the walls white in the bedroom but in our new house we picked a nice soft green and the bed is a beige color. Very nuetral room but we like it and everytually we will have more color in there with pics and such on the walls.

We've lived together for a year and a half and we've never decorated 'together'. We both really just had a mish-mash of stuff that we each collected through college and we chose not to spend the money to get new stuff when we could put any of that money toward the wedding. My room when he moved in had a khaki color on the walls and a green duvet so it wasn't super girly. I got rid of the purple throw pillows when he moved in and when we inherited his grandmother's red loveseat we slipcovered his creamcicle orange couch (a pullout, and comfier than the one I had) to coordinate with it. When we moved into our house we kept the walls white (super vaulted ceilings are a pain in the butt to paint!) and kept all of our furniture. *shrug* It works for us. We plan to move to a nicer, bigger house next year and we'll redecorate then. My plan is dark woods and creams with a bright accent color that is yet to be determined
